Their food sources and patterns change. Bachelor groups of bucks break up when testosterone levels rise and bucks start to move into other parts of their home range. Find the food they are currently on and you will find does and fawns, which right now will be drawing in the bucks.

I just dont get it , its like they took the same vacation this week as the did up north 2 weeks ago ! Does it mean in the next week or so they will start to seek and chase ? It seems like it starts this way in north and then a couple weeks later central , then a couple weeks after that in south jersey ! Ive only hunted central and south but hear reports from north and every year it seems they die out up north then restart , when it restarts up north the central part dies and so on ! Just my observation

I sat all day today not even a tail. Plenty of deer on cam no shooters yet but in my patch of woods I don't think it's happening yet I have groups of 4-5 does and normally when the goings good they won't be on cam for long and a buck will come push them off . Not happening. Have bucks staying on cam for 10-15 minutes don't happen when they are seeking. I guess every patch is different because the reports on here that bucks are running everywhere are the complete opposite to what I'm seeing.

That's exactly what happened over weekend in zone 5, but today based on all the scouting reports I got, it was back to full blown rut activity, big bucks on their feet mid-day, chasing galore, etc..

Remember you can burn up a spot by over hunting it pretty quick. I have been seeing deer at most of my spots, but nothing to write home about. Some of my areas are seemingly void of deer or anything associated with a reason for them being there. However, that doesn't mean it can't change as the chase kicks in.

While at work last night I saw about 10 different bucks crusing fields, along the sides of the roads, etc. They are definitely on the move.
