I'm wondering if you guys think it's too soon to use doe in estrus scents. I realize we are a good month away from time where the does are in season but I'm wondering if bucks will still check this scent out if they come across it?

Are there other attractants that might be better around now?

Yes it is way to early to use estrus scent. If your after a buck, try some buck urine, but you can't go wrong with regular doe urine

Working scrapes with Dominant Buck lure will work. Using any kind of scent the acts like there is another buck in the area would be best right now. another 2 weeks and you can start pulling out the tinks 69.

Yes acorns and the does that are eating them, right up till the chase phase!
What better place to be than right near a grove that is being hit by ALL deer literaly night and day or some form of funnel leading to or from one.
You don't need to spend any money just make sure your boots are clean and set up 30 yards down wind.
Sooner or later if they are white Oaks every deer in the area will come by if they are Red Oaks Most deer in the area will come by. Whats not to like?

I agree that its still to early for rut type lures, but I had a funny encounter just last Saturday. I forgot to bring any cover scent with me but did have a bottle of Tink's 69 with me. I sprayed some of it around me to cover my scent and within 5 minutes, I had a spike come runnin in. He was in a full trot and stopped right where i had sprayed. Could have been out of curiosity, but funny nonetheless.

I'm working the piece I am on the find a good acorn site. Trouble is - they are EVERYWHERE. I have two white oaks around my current location. The property I lease has so many oaks on it that the deer are still fairly well disbursed and still getting plenty of acorns. They are hitting a hunting partners bait pile though.

I'll keep on the lookout for a heavy concentration of oaks all in one spot in my travels or maybe an acorn rich spot with more sign and a couple runs in and out.

Thanks for the feedback.
