Hi everyone. A few years back Brian Pichalski, his father, Wayne Bishop and myself got the OK from the township to re-open the range. Of course at the time Brian, Wayne and Myself were UBNJ council representatives for our respective counties. The Pichalski's fought with the township to allow us to open the range and do a complete clean up. When we got there I thought that Brian was crazy in taking such a huge task at hand. We were pulling out whole BBQ that were actually buried underground, can't remember how many bags of bottles, shotgun shells, you think of it and it was there. Probably a couple of tons of leaves and branches we cut up the lanes as they were all over grown. We worked that day from morning till dark. With my health issues, I ended up bed ridden for a few days, but those guys never gave up. Again UBNJ, and those that care stepped up to help clean up the place and make it look like it looks today. I'm not here anymore in NJ, but I check in everyday to see what is going on in the hunting community of NJ. Happy to see someone step up and get the guys together so youall can have a place to shoot.

Jersey Bob how u doing. The reason you don't have a range at the Watchung reservation is because when a few of us were fighting to have a shooting facility in Union county, Watchung was the first place we had in mind. Mike Tully, Ray Szpond, myself and a few other put so much pressure on the Freeholders that they had no choice but to hear us out at one of their monthly meetings. We gather up the troops and it was the first time (according to the chairman) that room was filled to capacity, not counting those that were standing outside. Mike Tully was instrumental in acquiring a hole at the Oak Ridge Golf grounds and youall now have a state of the art shooting facility. I understand that they even added on a roof for all 21 shooting slots (way to go). Stick together and you will get things done. Join those organizations like UBNJ who is the only one looking out for the Bowhunters in NJ. I missed those guys and all those good friends of mine who never knew what NO was. Keep up the good work and keep the sport alive.

I was thinking around 5:00 pm. Hopefully there is not a lot of people shooting, i would hate to interrupt them. Maybe they will lend a hand, who knows. It wouldnt take long to get the place to the point where it is not an eyesore.

10,20 30 40 yards..the range is in really bad shape and i have cleaned up some myself but im tired of picking up beer bottles from losers so i stopped. i bring my own target do what i need to and go. it could be a great place with some help

Weathers not looking good. I was there yesterday shooting and it almost looks as if someone has been picking away at the trash. Trying to come up with a plan of attack , I was thinking if we raked the crap onto a tarp and dumped it behind the ten yard target, it would be a managable pile to separate trash from brush. Then toss the brush over the fence and bag the garbage. I dont see it taking more than an hour with a few guys. I'll be there as long as its not down pouring.
