I am here because... I'm gonna be a hunter... AND I'm in NJ!

Then I'm gonna be eatin my tasty kill like nom nom nom nom.
^^^^^ This is exactly the example of why I don't hunt on state land anymore!

Dude find yourself a buddy with hunting experience. This is good advice. Hunting isn't just something you go out and do and have success at in most cases. You need an old guy with the patients to teach you all the tricks it took him a lifetime to learn. Its more like an apprenticeship if you will. Just because you have a gun, license, & a blaze orange hat doesn't mean your gonna walk in the woods and harvest anything. Until you learn and understand technique. otherwise go find pay to hunt places they will put you on the deer. But to me if your going to go that route, ya might as well just go to the supermarket instead. Join a hunting club, or State Federation Of Sportsmen. Attend the meetings and make friends. That's the best way to get involved if you don't already know hunters that are willing to teach you.

Quit feeding the troll. Shenanigans got called on this clown a long time ago when he asked about hunting turkeys with a club:

Troll, shenanigans, clown???!!! What the...

Rude! [cry]

I'll have you know, that thread got 5 likes!

Again, that was meant to be a light hearted thread and there were some good lulz to be had. :chuncky: Though I do own a few acres and there are plenty of deer and turkey.

What about a bow or hand to hoof combat?
Who says that bro, who??? ME thats who! Nom nom nom nom.

But alas, who knows when my time will come to partake in this wonderful sport.

A man can dream, cant he? :distant:

Take it easy my friend... I am on the same spot since 2012, now I have all my guns ready (!?) for hunting, but can't find the time for hunter education, and the most important thing I guess: Finding an experimented guy to learn from, I have no experience but I think hunting is serious and could be dangerous, not only because the shotgun... a deer looks sweet but it could kill you if you don't respect it. I hope to start this year...

Sounds like good advice.

As some have already suggested, I think the best place to start will be a local hunter's club.

I also think this forum and the people on it are a good source of information.
