Do your homework and don't get sucked into this like I did, only certain properties have cams, i got put on a property w dogs and poachers and guides work to hunt which means they care less what you do cause they are hunting, if you are a average Njh like me and can't go to Illinois 3 Times to scout and set stands before your hunt think before you book

Flanders, unfortunate you didnt harvest a deer, its hunting. I dont know you and you dont know me so I would appreciate you dont speak on something you know nothing about. You were not promised any more than what you were given. You paid for a 3 day hunt, you got a 3 day hunt. Illinois shotgun season is a short 3 days which is the reason the state produces the bucks they do.Also 2 things you can't control is mother nature and game movement on a hunt. You were sucked into nothing and just because you bought a hunt , does not mean you are guaranteed a deer. These hunts are trophy hunts and you need to be prepared to eat a tag if the opportunity does not present itself. You clearly were not ready for a trophy hunt and if YOU did your homework, you would find you were booking a fair chase hunt. If you were looking for a guarantee, they make high fences for that purpose. I scout and find my own spots. I continue to rebook with Steve because of the tremendous success I have had hunting his farms. I consider myself a experienced whitetail hunter and have been on 20 + guided hunts, I return to ITB each season because I think out of all the places including Saskatchewan that I have hunted, my best chance at harvesting a Boone & Crockett is with ITB. To think Steve puts me in a special magical tree, you are delirious . Steve is a reputable experienced outfitter and produces the mega bucks everyone dreams and clients returning for 6,7,8 years in a row would be a testimony to that and anyone who visits his website could see for themselves the results he produces. Ive sent 16 guys and gals to ITB in the past 2 years resulting in 10 harvests over half of those being the biggest buck of their lives and half of those clients are now repeat clients. For those that are concerned with what Im paying for my hunt, Ive attached my receipt for this years hunt.

^Well said.....[up]

Illinois definately isn't a bait and pray state.......[lol]

Actually going there once before you hunt is enough, and IMO highly recommended. If you are dropping $3000+/- trying to harvest a monster buck why wouldn't you do everything possible to increase those odds through an off season scouting trip. Spending the extra $300 to be better prepared for when the hunt comes around seems like a no brainer to me and should be figured into the cost.

For the record I didn't/don't hunt ITB, but found a preseason scouting trip was invaluable to being in the right spot and not "flying blind" when it came time to hunt. By doing a pre season scouting trip and then hunting I saw how some outfitter stands are not in good locations and if you don't know the property and are sitting in them you odds go dramatically down. As with every endeavor, if you are better prepared your odds of success go way up.

Ive been hunting for a long time and know very well nothing is guaranteed but to have people constantly trespassing and domestic dogs running the property all day while your trying to hunt def does not increase your odds of harvesting a nice buck,oh and having the guide tell the paying hunters in camp that he's passing 150's to get the 190 he is after def adds a little more ouch considering not one hunter in camp even saw anything that resembled their min 130 including the 5 bowhunters in camp the week before that also had a problem w the dogs and trespassers

I've been doing this for a long time and have had the mistake of these cheaper hunts. You can't go out and spend $1500 for a 150 plus deer. It just doesn't happen without a tremendous amount of luck. Don't get sucked into this one like many others have. Take it from experience, you get what you pay for.

@flandershunter I encouraged you, days after your hunt to contact me or Steve about your experience:

To my knowledge, you never did...

I think that speaks somewhat about the merit of your negative comments. It's a little late now to address your concerns, but i still encourage you to send Steve an email and copy me on it.

For the record, the openings TCook is talking about here are on a few different farms, including the farm I hunt in Sangamon County and our farm in Pike County.

All members on NJHunter are always encouraged to contact me direct to book your hunt with ITB. I will work as your Consultant and give you the inside scoop on the available openings. - Duane

Like some I've hunted Illinois for many years, at the time I was part of 2400 plus acres mostly in Brown County, with some in Pike County. I never hunted with ITB, I don't know their lands/farms they hunt but I'm sure it's really no different then the farms I was part of. Like most people my time is limited with family/work, but we always made the time to head out there in either early to mid August not only to scout but to hang many treestands, you have to do your homework, and if an outfitter is allowing you to scout well before the season I think that is a plus, we also offered that to the people hunting with us, most I will say didn't want to be bothered but that is their choice. People think in the midwest there are P&Y, B&C bucks behind every tree, that is far from the truth, I saw more bucks I would consider shooters here in NJ or at least where I hunt in NJ, but in your mind you must know at anytime that monster can show up, the biggest I saw was a buck at least 180" if not bigger I stopped counting at 13 points, he was 60 yards out while bow hunting, and I've seen other bucks from as small as spikes and going up the rank to the 180" plus, of course all during bow season and out of range, but that is hunting. I was lucky enough and happy with three bucks, by no means the true midwestern monster bucks, two during my first year out there 120", 117", and few years after a 130". I say hunt and enjoy, oh as far as bait piles none unless one considers corn/soybean fields as far as one can see bait piles
