So this is my first season turkey hunting, do I need to shower with no scent soap, spray down myself and equipment with scent elimination spray as I would for deer hunting or is it not as important in turkey hunting?

It's been said if turkeys could smell, you'd never kill one.

but if a deer smell you and snorts alot of times its game over with the turkeys also
I was gonna answer with a quick "doesn't matter at all" but rgw is giving solid advice. I've had at least three encounters where I had deer and turkeys in close proximity and scent control is the difference between success and failure. One snort out of a nearby deer and you are done.

ticks ticks ticks!!! Pull long socks over your pants, tuck your pants into your boots, tuck in your shirt, long sleeve shirt, hat, spray down with bug juice. They are out bigtime right now... I've already pulled a number off me and a ton off my pup.

Speaking of tick juice, I was coming out of the woods and saw this Latino guy at the trucks. asked him if he saw anything, he replys no. Busted his onions a bit by saying " Do you always gel up your hair for the turkeys?" He says, "No the ticks are really bad this year, it's Frontline" [lol] True story

If you haven't tried permethrin spray on your clothes, you should. You spray it on your clothes only. It lasts for months and even lasts through multiple washings. Walmart sells it in their camping section, the brand is sawyers. Or, you can make it yourself for much cheaper than the sawyers. Bunch of recipes out there if you Google it.

Same here! Sawyers permethrin works great. I ignore the label though and spray it directly on my ankles to keep from getting chiggers. Other than that though I only spray my clothes.

Sawyer for $10?
Last time I got a can it was $14 and I remember seeing it once for $17, ten bucks is a good deal.
It can be had on amazon.com for $10.75 right now with free shipping on $25 order. Or you could buy the concentrate bottle for $28 and dilute to the recommended rate and have about the equivalent of 3 regular sawyers bottles.

Or you can buy Martin's Permethrin 10% on Amazon for $19 and then either take an old windex bottle or buy a spray bottle at Home Depot ZEP 32 oz. Professional Sprayer-HDPRO36 at The Home Depot and make your own. You mix roughly one part of the permethrin to 20 parts water which will give you the same percentage of permethrin as the Sawyer's, 0.5%. Sawyer's cost you $1 - $1.25 per oz, this way is around $0.12 per oz. You can make around 13 bottles of the Sawyer's from the one bottle of concentrate I listed.

In addition to spraying it on the exterior of all my clothes, I also spray it on the outside of my socks and do a light spray on the bottom inside of my pants so ticks and chiggers don't go up. I apply it at least a day in advance and let the clothes dry thoroughly before wearing. I would not spray it on your skin directly.
