I have been waiting two months for my handgun permits, when I called my town today a very nice police Lieutenant told me my paper work was finished a month ago. He told me the hold up is with the State Police who are running about 8 weeks behind on background checks. Has anyone else heard this to be true? Thanks!

My town has had everything back for 3 weeks I stopped in to check on it and the chief saw it sitting on the range officers desk told me to call back , so the state police excuse is total BS the PD are just sitting on them and the more you call the longer they'll sit on it ,

Actually it's just the opposite. The more you call the more likely you will get it quicker in most cases. It has been proven many times here. Ask around.

Can't be true, my girl applied for her FID card and 3 pistol permits.......... 4 weeks ago. She just got the cal lthis morning they were ready to pick up.

So if state police were backed up like that - hers would have been backed up also

Its the most likely the town. My duplicate Fid and 2 permits took over 4 months. The township even told me it was due to them waiting for the reference checks coming back. I personally know the desk clerk and she told me it came back within a week. What really pisses me off is that i wait for the background for the permit and then have to wait again for the background on the purchase. How many backgrounds are needed they all are looking at the same damn info.

I agree waiting for these gun permits is like watching paint dry then you need to do it all over again at the point of purchase. I think most of these anti gun legislators have no clue what we need to go through to buy a gun and now they just want to pile more regulations on top of what we already have.

Okay I called the State Police and they said my background check was completed on March 25th. I called my local police department and spoke to the same Lieutenant and he told me that he still did not receive it. He seems like a good guy and I doubt that he is BS ing me. He said he had about 25 applications completed on his desk and he is still waiting for the State Police to mail him the approvals. I will keep you posted on how it goes.

All they know is horror stories on the news, there's never anything about law-abiding citizens and their firearms since it's not exciting enough. They won't understand until they try to do it themselves, and they never will.
