Why are Baitcasting reels designed to be held and casted with the right hand and then switched over to the left hand to reel the line in with the right hand?[confused]

Drives me nuts[wallmad]. Everyone learns with a spinning reel reeling with tbeir left hand but then they put the handle on the other side on conventionals[wallmad]. Im limited as to what reels i can use because i reel lefty, it sucks. I use both but prefer lefty, its more natural.[down]

Im a righty.. but i fish lefty thats how it goes.. grew up using spinning reels fishing with my father in the stream.. and just never could get used to it the other way.. good thing Avet have some love for the leftys or else id be in trouble

Finally, I consider it revenge! Everytime I pick up a new rod or borrow one; the handle is on the wrong side! I'm right handed, but for some reason I learned to fish left handed. My brother is left handed, but fishes right handed. It just whatever's comfortable I guess![smirk]
