Where was the NRA during this whole NY fiasco? I don't even see any mention of it on their web page.

I'm a life member, but I won't be giving them any more money. As far as I'm concerned, this NY law is by far the worst threat in our lifetimes. I'm trying to figure out the best organization to donate to.

There's SCOPE (NY state) and ANJRPC (NJ.) Is it better to contribute toward fighting in NY or to preventative measures in NJ? What do people think?

This was shady politics at best. They went backroom, made a deal, and came out thinking they are going to smell like roses because they passed some feel-good legislation. The NRA couldn't have stopped this even if they wanted too. We are screwed, we are screwed royally and another Lexington Green is fast approaching.

The NRA doesnt have Carte Blanche when it comes to gun control.. They are the best friend gun owners have right now. Those gun laws in NY and other states are most likly going to have to withstand a legal challenge so all is not lost yet..[smoke]

So within a year from the date the law is in effect you will have to sell your gun out of state. The market will be flooded with AR's and you will get 1/2 what they are worth. Be prepared to sell that 1200 dollar AR for 500 bux.

More bad news Wooly, Maryland is getting ready to follow N.Y. as stated by their governor last night. All military-style "assault weapons," are going to be banned there he said.

Just read the article. the MD one doesn't have any specifics so might be closer to the 94 ban. I think MD is a more reasonable state.

I normally like your posts, but I don't think this is a laughing matter. You won't be in the market for these ARs in the likely case that NJ follows suit.

There is nothing the NRA could do at this point. The legislators who passed this are already elected.

The NRA has been plenty busy and if it were not for the NRA all these restrictions would be nationwide.

NY Gun organizations are NRA organizations and they are on the front lines. Unfortunately, these weaker states are going to fall first. NJ could be next.

Now is not the time to pull back your support. Now is the time to increase it. God bless the NRA!

I think the NRA has to bite the bullet and do something it has been reluctant to do, sue one of the states in Federal court arguing that the state's gun laws are so restrictive, so onerous that they negate and nullify the Second Amendment by making it too burdensome for the average person to comply with the restrictions in exercising his right to possess firearms. I am certain that some of the states already nullify (I hope they use that term in the suit as the federal courts will perk up at that word) the Amendment with their present restrictions.

The NRA will step in. The people need to step up and make the calls and send the letters.

Without its members the NRA can't do anything.

DO not start shooting yourself in the foot!

There is a process and the NRA will continue the fight as long as we continue the fight!!!!!

NO more fighting amongst ourselves!!!!

ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!!!!!!!

So all you asshats that voted for OBAMA you get what you wanted!!!!!

UNIT or DIE!

Maybe I'm nieve but I dont think Jersey follows suit, Republican level headed Governor will hopefully prevail.
Our Governor is not exactly gun friendly. But he has an issue with jumping into the fray against guns because he likely will run for President in 3 more years and has to be careful not to upset the Republican base which is mostly strong 2nd Amendment.

The more liberal states will quickly restrict guns further like NY is doing. Look to CA, MA, and others to jump on the anti 2nd Amendment bandwagon soon.
