In Cranford I was told a handgun permit takes minimum 90 days...its been about 6 weeks so far...this is ridiculous...I lost out because of this. Seller got scared off didnt want to wait, I wanted to purchase a Smith and Wesson 38 revolver and a colt revolver both from the late 50's early 60's.

Yes, when I handed in the paperwork, I asked, " What will it take , about a month ?" and the clerk said "expect 90 days." My mouth kinda dropped open....I thought I had read where the state had been sued over this , and the most the wait could be is 30 days ??....not much I could do..any action would cost money and its just not worth it....Ill still probably look to buy a handgun since I went through all the permit trouble, and missed out and the other two, even though the owner said if he ever sells I have first shot at buying them........he was quite surprised when I told him he needed a permit as well.....

i want to know y it takes do long bc in the store it takes 10 mins to fill out the paperwork work and do the background check....and i know the the police have more resorces the the gun shop btw its been 56 days do far for me

Was in Cabelas Friday and saw a guy buy a gun. He completed the transaction and was escorted out of the store with an employee carrying the gun for him. Upon exiting the store the employee handed him the gun and off he went. Probably took all of 15 minutes

My references didn't get letters though. The trooper called and spoke to them

Well I,m hoping my references get called too. I told them to look out for the call.
This just crazy.
Mine were called also but that was like 2 months ago. And everybody called me telling them that they got the call. Even my job was called. I'm trying to get in touch with the firearms coordinator to find out the status of my permits, but apparently I never call on days when he is there. I was told today he will be there on Thursday. Such a PITA! 98 days and counting

Hi Blackdeerhunter, yes I have called and followed up , I spoke to a nice lady who handles them prior to getting to the detectives 2 weeks ago and she advised I should see it within 2 weeks as it was with the detectives, Yesterday was a week and a half from that date and I called just to confirm I would recieve it today or tomorrow, however she advise me they have been extremely backed up , etc and she doesnt have an ETA..I can understand a backup due to Sandy or if they are just plain busy, however I find it rediculous how long this is taking and it is quite frustrating..I have my twic card for the terminals which had to go through the FBI and it took 30 days..

southampton nj 61 days and waiting....called at the 35 day mark trooper said there was no need for me to call any more that they would call when it would be in im assuming it has been up at the division of state police for at least 30 days

The State Police NEVER take more than 30 days. Just look around, other PD's get it done in 30 days and they send your records to the same state police.
