Axiom I could care less who shoots what deer IF they are hunting on property they are allowed to be on .
Amen !!
A few seasons ago, I was in my stand on opening day of archery season. A little after first light I see a guy coming through. I let him know I was there and that he was on private land (he knew it, he crossed the signs).
He told me he shot a doe and was looking for her. I got down and helped him look for over and hour, no luck. I ended up finding his deer a few days later, though.
Anyway, we exchanged numbers and eventually became close friends. Later that season, I was heading out for a bow hunt and was really torn between 2 stands. I was hunting a split G-2 buck, along with a few others, but, I really had high hopes for the split G-2 because he was very visible. Well, I make my decision based on the wind and weather. Figuring they would hit the cut corn early as they'd been doing on colder evenings, I went to the crops instead of the acorn stand.
Well, a few hours after, I get a text from this guy that he shot the split G-2. Ironically enough, he watched this deer cross by my stand by merely YARDS. He grunted to him, he crossed the property line and soon came into bow range. He put the smack down.
I got out of my stand, AGAIN, and helped him track and drag the deer out. I was so happy for him. I wanted that deer, and, could have had him if I chose the other stand, BUT, it almost felt like I got him, myself, when he took him. Couldnt be happier. I ended up dropping the hammer on a giiiiiiiiant, later that year. I call him the Karma buck and I'm happy how it worked out.
