2 reasons for the pink.
1) I can see them really good in flight.
2) easier to find them on the ground.
I'm just busting your chops. I use blue and chartruese. Any color that you don't typically find in the woods is a good color for fletching. Like you said makes it much easier to find the arrow.

Is that why I can never find my orange and brown feathered arrows [confused]
J/K I use chartreuse & white, but after they passthrough a deer they all look reddish brown anyway, unless I miss then the colors help to find them.

Great job mystic on the home made arrows especially the nocks [up] Very cool.
What happen to the turkey feathers though?

they where on the other arrows I had, I was shooting and shot them all to hell. the 3 arrows I have that have glue-on nocks are the only ones left from the first batch of ash arrows. These are about a month old, second set of arrows I made. I guess I need more feathers... is it Turkey season yet? I may need to find a new spot to hunt them.

You've seen my setup...at least the arrows will have to post a bow pic when I have the chance.

Setup:
Pacific Yew Classic Longbow 68"/50#@29 1/2" Flemished string made by Jay St.Charles
Homemade NJ turkey feather arrows 55-60 Port Orford Cedar with Magnus II 2 blade 125grain broadheads (glue-on) Arrow weight: light and balanced enough
[hihi] 30 1/2"BOP
fletching color: seafoam green with a fuchsia [no swearing please]
[rofl] joking. All feathers are natural turkey feathers (barred of course) harvested by dbowers and tomski.

Ready to Roll for my first...here bucky bucky bucky :D actually, first is gonna have to be a doe in zone 19 on the 9th. [patcheye]

btw: nice nocks Mystic [up]

Mystic how many years have you been Bow-hunting?

Ive been using the "training wheels" going on 16 years now, still love it, but I broke out the trad gear two years ago to use once in a while. Very challenging to hunt with the recurve when you dont bait, I gotta get em in CLOSE...like 10yds.:D

Nothing fancy...Using an old OLD Ben Pearson (model unknown) 62" tip to tip 38# @ 27"... Shooting the same carbons out of it that I use out of the "wheely" bow. What I really want to use the bow for is Pheasants...You've probably seen the pics of me shooting the airborn plastic bottle.:) FUN!![up]

Started in 2002 because of my Heart Sugery. I can't stand the cold weather like I used to.. Last year up in zone 4 with BHC, Buckfever & Titus was the only time I have been out in that cold of weather for more then 4hrs. I turned to bow so I could hunt more in nicer weather... I started trad bowhunting in 2003. I haven't shot my wheelie since then.

Mystic,
771gr. out of 53#!!!! Not having a calculator handy my guess it thats close to 15 grains per drawn pound!
That bow MUST be as quiet as a "Church Fart" but that arrow has to be S--L--O----Wwwwww NOT knocking your set up just sayin and Oh yeah Nice nocks as the other have pointed out.
Sure killing deer over bait is easyer and so is over natural food sources and funnels along with forced movement set ups what ever floats a persons boat but know this bait is NOT the only way to get that 10 or 15 yard shot any inteligent set up will produce it but it is up to the bow hunter to engineer it , recognise it when it's there and take advantage of it at the right time and not untill.

Now to answer the Question that started this thread so as not to be considerd a hi-jacker of same like some here.
Most likely I will be hunting with two bows but one arrow.
First bow is a Fedora T/D 60" recurve 60#@26" it was first made for me in 91 serverly damaged in our house fire 3 years ago the limbs were totaled and the riser was reworked and refinnished with new limbs made for me, they have a Bambu core laminations with Bloodwood and an Eboney wedge faced off with Bocote veneers under clear glass, my very first custom recurve reserected I should call it the Phenix or something like that.

The nest bow I will be using this year is another Fedora this one is the "Excellorator Longbow" kind of one of those hybreds they call em today heavy RF/DF nice Quiet bow 53# 64" long Chechen Riser 5 Bamboo laminations under bloodwood and clear glass.

The arrow a BlackHawk Vapoor 200 cut to 27" with a 100 grain br [no swearing please] insert.
The head. well there are two one is a 200 grain Razorcap the other is a Magnus 1 5/16" ferrel with a steal BH insert turned down to .308" and faced till it weights in at 90 grains so it and the 110 grain head weigh 200.
Some of my shafts are the carbon woods with a crown dip and both white and yellow dyed natural trukey barred LW feathers but MOST are the plain old Black ones (cheaper) with Yellow vynle sign makes tape for the crown and plain non bleached hight back 5.5" turkey feathers while it maybe a break with tradition there is a reason.
I hate to blood trail I want an arrow that will flatten out in flight ASAP be flying straight and QUIET before it crosses the 5 yard line.
It is just a theory but I think when a deer neither hears the shot nor feels the arrow they are less prone to going far from were you shot them. Carbon recovers the fastest I don't shoot it because it is light like many compounders I want momentum so I add weight in the form of Steel and Brass. My arrows weigh 532+ grains in the LB thats a perfect 10 grains per drawn # a little light @ 8.8 in the Recurve but they shoot well.

160fps, still fast enuff to take deer, from 20yards..

Last year only took 2 deer over bait.

NIce set-up Jakesbeard... We might have gotten off on the wrong foot in the other thread, but I get that way sometimes...RIGHT MATTY[rofl][rofl]

Close 14.547grn's per Lb, but My shrew loves heavy arrows.. Ron LaClair told me that so I had to try heavy ones... I do need a grn scale to get really weight, The weight I got was from weighing in in grams then converting to grains...I might take one tomorrow to a bow shop and weigh them. Good Luck this season.
