Yes and yes. I took the hunter safety course with a borrowed 65# MAII, which is an older model. I have a 60# MAII now, but would like to get a lighter weight one eventually. I think "shootstraight" was selling one last fall, maybe check with him and save some money.

i have (2) 60" 54# psax. they are great bows but i don't think they are worth the money new, they are nothing too special. there are too many for sale in classifieds at discounted prices. as you know, recurves are a personal thing. if you are ever in the randolph, morris county area and want to shoot mine let me know.

I had a couple of them years ago.. Nice, hard hitting bow. Worth the money? Thats up to you.. You can pay about half that for an actionwood bow from a custom bowyer and have the same if not better performance.. There are a few top custom bowyers: Fedora, Robertson, Morrison, just name a few. It will come down to preferance. Kind of the same with compounds. The manufacturors would like you to think that thiers is "The best", but in reality, the differances in performance amongs bows of the same or similar price points are very small.

as you know, recurves are a personal thing.
that is about as good as info as can be given when it comes to recurves [up]

depending on personal style some bows will shoot way different in each shooters hands. shooting a recurve to see if it will shoot where your looking is def something that should be done before one is purchased.

I have shot ALOT of bows from different bowyers and I keep coming back to my Widows. Guess thats why i own 5. When it comes to hitting that "spot" nothing does it like a Widow for me.

I have had dozens of trad bows over the years including widows. They are well made, beautiful works of art. That being said they are not that fast and typically louder than all my other bows. For the same money you can have almost any custom you want. Do some research there are some great custom boyers out there. I have a randy morin hy-breed that is whisper quiet and will smoke most bows in the speed department. Its made of bamboo core with osage veneers and shoots a 500 grn arrow about 200 fps @53#. Before some of you get your tailfeathers in a bunch Im not trashing widows, just saying there are alot of choices
