It may be a veal calf shelter. Folks can mock them all they want but more Monster deer have been killed out of those things in Saskatchewan than you could dream of. When constructed properly with plexiglass windows they will keep you warm with a heater inside even in extrmely cold temperatures. More important, unlike most modern ground blinds they won't collapse under heavy snow.
Having hunted from them I can tell you they are not at the top of my list of places to sit all day. However, they definitely do the job.
