Do you need a tar hunt to poke holes in A deer, THE deer, or ANY deer? Hell, No!
Do you need a Van Staal reel to catch a striped bass in the surf? Absoluely not!
Do you need an Orvis or other high dollar fly rod to catch trout in the streams of Pennsylvania or New jersey? Nope!
Do you need perfectly-painted cork decoys to successfully fool waterfowl to within shotgun range? Not usually!
Do you need an expensive European shotguns with interchangable Briley chokes to successfully smash clay targets on a sporting clays course? Nada!
However, if the purchase or ownership of any of these "more expensive" items makes the buyer feel better, more confident or more-prepared, it could be beneficial. The key is that the buyer cannot simply lay out a huge chunk of cash to buy one of these items & suddenly expect that the item will suddenly enable them to be an expert withour practice or experience.
As for an investement purchase ... Well, I think I could find a couple of guns to buy to hold on to for possible appreciation before I would count on a single TH to gain any significant appreciation in our lifetimes.
You don't need marbles rolling around in your head to spend that kind of money on a gun; you simply need a lot of cash.
