If you argument holds true Wingshooter then why dont't everyone sell their SxS and just buy a 870 for $300.00.Why dont i sell my 5000 sf house and buy a 900sf house it does the same thing. If you have the money and want a nice gun why not buy it.To hell with this entitlement soceity and socialist president we have.[wallmad]

or driving a $45000 truck instead of a used $15000 one that will do the same job ,,,
But the $15,000 truck is only 2 wheel drive, doesn't have an 8cyl engine, no stability control, has a smaller cab, can't tow more than two tons, no airbags, bed is only 6 foot, speakers are blown and no dvd or xm radio

and most people who pay off their student loans, mortgage, truck, and pinch pennies wouldn't be throwing their money at a "show off" gun.
I wonder how many would say that "throwing their money at a showoff ___" for the guy that buys a huge diesel PU truck, a $1500 bow kit every 2 years, a 20 year old bottle of scotch, or super-sizes their McDonald's combo.

Word's to live by, "This is why we all can't have nice things".

Class warfare is alive and well!

I must have lots and lots of marbles in my head.

I would drop some dough on a gun that will hold its value. I see it as an investment. Some guys collect cars, some stamps, coins. Whatever make you happy. Hey if you worked for it and got it Enjoy it. I can justify it much easier in my mind spending money on quality hunting equipment rather than dumping it on a fancy car. Thats not my thing but if its yours there is nothing wrong with that. If half of you guys knew what some of your wives shoes and purses cost you probably would run out and get a TH tonight.

ten years from now that tar hunt will be worth 3-4 times that amount, so in the long run its a GOOD investment.

guys looked at ATA shooters back in the 80's like they had three heads when they paid 1500 bucks for Perazzi's when alot were shooting 870 and model 12.

those laughed at laugh now after shooting those guns for twenty five years and now sell them for 8000.

good firearms never lose value, and IF you have the money more power to you [up]

I was going back and forth with JC when they had a used one at Simon Peters last year between that and a bolt. If I remember correctly I think he said they hold their value well but don't really increase in value. That was one of the main reasons I shyed away from it. I look at things the way you do with guns as an investment but the tar hunt did not seem to be that type of gun. He can correct me If i misquoted him.

Tar Hunt makes the finest slug guns on the market and I would own one in a heartbeat if I could afford it. Based on my current job, I cannot, but I admire those that can afford one and make the purchase. They hold their value and are a great gun. Thanks JC for the post, I'm sure they'll be plenty of interest.

What happened the the America I once knew where hard work and effort were a good thing, not a bad thing? We live in sad times, I'm afraid. Just hope we can learn from our mistakes and right this ship...

you miss-understood my argument, i was defending the purchase of the weapon, by comparing it to other items that the same people that are bashing spending that money on an expensive gun do the same with other everyday things in theyr lifes, if you can confortably afford it then why not own the best, if that gives you marbles in yoru head then so be it,

Do you need a tar hunt to poke holes in A deer, THE deer, or ANY deer? Hell, No!

Do you need a Van Staal reel to catch a striped bass in the surf? Absoluely not!

Do you need an Orvis or other high dollar fly rod to catch trout in the streams of Pennsylvania or New jersey? Nope!

Do you need perfectly-painted cork decoys to successfully fool waterfowl to within shotgun range? Not usually!

Do you need an expensive European shotguns with interchangable Briley chokes to successfully smash clay targets on a sporting clays course? Nada!

However, if the purchase or ownership of any of these "more expensive" items makes the buyer feel better, more confident or more-prepared, it could be beneficial. The key is that the buyer cannot simply lay out a huge chunk of cash to buy one of these items & suddenly expect that the item will suddenly enable them to be an expert withour practice or experience.

As for an investement purchase ... Well, I think I could find a couple of guns to buy to hold on to for possible appreciation before I would count on a single TH to gain any significant appreciation in our lifetimes.

You don't need marbles rolling around in your head to spend that kind of money on a gun; you simply need a lot of cash.

Nice guns. But if someone really thinks Its night and day better then the h&r or the savage, they are kidding themselves.

You can take your H&R...send it to D&T gunworks and have the thing worked to the balls...and still be at less then half the price.
