I just got back last night from 8 days in Myrttle Beach and only fished for 2 days from the kayak while I was there. Golf, family and strong winds and surf took the other days.
The weather was great with only a few hours of clouds for the week and not a drop of rain, and temps in the mid 80's.
The first morning out was silly shark fishing, with huge pods of bunker with sharks all over them. All I had to do was snag one, get it back to the kayak and put it on a single hook and hold on. I landed at least 6-7 the first morning, until I had enough of getting pulled around.
Here is a video of the first morning.
The second time out was not as easy, with the bunker close to the shore. I snagged a bunch and headed out into deeper water. I landed a few small ones in the 3-4 foot range and then I started trolling with the dead bunker.
After 15 minutes trolling, the bunker got hit and a huge shark started pulling me backwards! I held on for about 5 minutes without any control, befor the shark broke through my 75lb. rated wire leader. Maybe it was a good thing, that one broke off !!
The next one hooked was a spinner shark in the 5-6 foot range, that made 2 huge leaps near the kayak and broke off. Here are a few shots from the first day.
Here is a short video from my 23rd floor room the first morning. You can see the sharks attacking the bunker.
