Hunt Illinois - 2012 DATES - be the first on a NEW FARM!

Just leased in Calhoun County near one of our Top Producing Farms. You can get in on this camp this fall...we are only booking 2 hunters per week ( 6 total archery and 2 total gun season).

We are calling this camp - TWO RIVERS CAMP
The name TWO RIVERS refers to the fact that these 4 farms benefit from refuges in both the Illinois and Mississippi river bottoms. 4 farms make up this camp, about 800 acres, some are about ½ Mile BY ½ MILE. Very good funnels, good mix of woods, brush and briars. It has heavy trails, lots of rubs, and that is EXCITING! Many of the surrounding farms are 70% woods. Two of these farms have the potential to take a 200 class double drop tine buck which has escaped the hunters at our nearby farm for years now.

These hunts are fully guided at $2400, including meals, lodging, and my tree stands set up. The photo above is just 1 of 4 parcels we will hunt. The yellow pin shows where we took a 156 eight pointer in the past here. To the immediate west is a huge refuge in the Mississippi river bottoms. All fields on this farm are weeds and briars about 4 foot high – deer heaven!

Here are the dates:
Week 1 Archery - October 26th - October 31st
Week 2 Archery - November 2nd - November 7th
Week 3 Archery - November 9th - November 14th
Firearm Season - November 16th - November 18th

The now defunct Titus Hollow Access Area, as previously identified, can no longer function for its stated purpose. Therefore, it is proposed to cancel the lease and add the acreage to the WMA. Cockrell Hollow provides an access point; however, it is under lease to the Sportsman’s Club and subject to their decisions. When river flows increase in the fall/winter, the pool can go on "tilt", effectively de-watering the Batchtown WMA and stranding the hunters boats in the harbor at Cockrell Hollow. Because of this, there are times when the WMA is inaccessible.

Years ago, the Titus Hollow Access Area had a boat harbor, boat ramp, parking lot and boat access channel to the WMA. Siltation has filled in the harbor and channel, rendering the access useless. Presently, access is provided by Cockrell Hollow, which is under lease to the Batchtown Sportsmen Club. There is no state managed public access area for the Batchtown WMA

The acess X7 mentions is to the river, to the west.

Yes it is publicly hunted, mostly ducks, so the deer hunters can't even hunt mornings. It is a huge network of islands, sloughs, and swamps. Deer grow to maturity here. A 200 class nontypical was taken there with a bow last year! That is the "refuge" we refer to, to the west...we have had our eye on this area for a couple of years and just last week signed the last couple of farms to make this camp a reality.

So who is in?

Yes...we hunted this farm about 10 years ago.

In Calhoun County everyone duck hunts but in the rivers so the only effect on our high ground farms is you hear gun shots all morning.

Yes June is the application period for tags. Gun tags will most likely sell out. Archery will most likely have left overs...that's how its been the last 5 years.

I hunted Jersey county which is east of Calhoun on the Illinois River. If I didn't hear 1000+ shots from the shotguns of duck hunters in a week I didn't hear a one. Duck hunting there is just as popular if not more so than the deer hunting.

I remember knocking on some doors in Calhoun county, which is not very big to start, looking for a place to possibly hunt. That is how I remembered the Batchtown name and the Titus Hollow Access. There was a farmer named Ellerson if I remember right that told me to give him a call for the next year. I never called as I had another hunt in eastern Illinois.

Just to add....some of those hollows will never give up some of the deer in them

I stayed in Hardin and remember being in a couple bars, but don't remember the names. I was the designated driver. There is one place where Augie Busch would land his plane right there on the river to wine and dine
