I bought a Damon Howett recurve about 18 years ago but never used it Ive been hunting 30 years with a compound Im really want to shoot and hunt with it so I pulled it out yesterday noticed it needed a new string and decide I wouldnt use the cedar arrows I got with the bow to start out so I went over to Heritage Guild today for a string and arrows Mike at heritage Guild couldnt have been more helpful got a string, case, glove and shafts that capt Dan Bias is gonna use to make up some custom arrows for me

Im pumped to hunt turkey and especially deer CANT WAIT!

Any suggestions on a blind that you can comfortably shoot a 60 inch bow out of that wont cost a fortune?

Congrats on the switch. It makes you feel like a kid again in the tree. You get a whole new feeling of nervousness when that first doe walks into range.

As for blinds, something tall. I used one by Ameristep. I shoot a 62" bow, it was not tall enough. Shooting out of the blind with trad gear is tough, I could never get it right. I ended up just sticking with my climbers and hangers.

thats cool lou. i might just have to break out my trad bow that is nicknamed twisted sister for this :)

Doublebull used to make a "recurve model" blind that works great. I shot my 66" longbow from it with no problems at all. Since Primos bought doublebull I don't know if they still make that model. If you hunt turkeys with a stick bow, a blind really helps only because the birds pick up every move you make. Do a lot of shooting from a blind before you go out. It gets pretty hard to judge distance after looking through screens for a while, especially in the early morning hours.

Get a crossbow nobody in their right mind hunts with a stick these days , not when you can use an arrowgun and claim to be bowhunting.:)

I hunt from the ground with my trad bows. I wear a ghilly suit and sit in natural(FREE) blinds.

There is also a Traditional ONLY shoot April 27-29 at the Whittingham WMA in Sussex County. Come on up and check it out.
