First I want to thank all of the people on this forum who helped me find a huntable area in Black River. I went out yesterday in the AM and didn't see anything. After lunch I got back in my climber and it was a tough hunt. Bitter cold wind and snow squalls that were blizzard like. At around 4:45 I saw 4 deer moving down a ridge. They circled around me and two slowly came in to a spot where I sprinkled some C'Mere Deer. I was losing light quickly and the other 2 deer were still behind me. The first deer walked right under my tree and the other bigger deer took a wide turn and came behind. The bigger deer pushed to smaller one broad side and I decided to take the shot before it got any darker. It was 5PM on the dot. I let my Easton Pile-driver with Montec Striker broad head fly and it knocked the deer down. No trail and dead in under 30 seconds. I have to give props to my Ross Carnivore bow.. its quiet, smooth and very forgiving. Also, the Square Up site got my groupings ridiculously tight and I highly recommend it to all bow hunters. This is only my 3rd deer so I'm pretty stoked. It's my first on public land. Thanks again for all those who gave me great tips.
