Has anyone had any other run-ins with a pack?
Never a pack while hunting, but, when I was younger, the State released coyotes around our homestead Thoroughbred farm.

The yotes were more than capable of taking down a foal, but, they never did on this farm; they killed one on another family members farm in Ringoes, last year, though.

They would antagonize the horses which could lead to stress and/or injury. They caused a horse to break through a 3 rail fence, once. At night, we would always hear the howling. We would get into the trucks and go run them off. At the time, it was not legal to shoot them, but, we would shine them and shoot the guns off just to run them off. After a few months of this and other farmers losing livestock and pets, all bets were off and the locals started ripping them with rifles and trapping.

The only plus to the coyotes was that the ate groundhogs, and, when you have multi-million dollar Thoroughbreds, one groundhog hole can cost you A LOT of money, if the horse steps in it.

Last year, I saw a ton of yotes. I got a shot on one with my bow but it happened so fast, I miss judged the yardage and nearly gave it a hair-cut with my arrow. I've seen a growing number of yotes in one of the areas I hunt in NJ.

I also had a few encounters with yotes while hanging stands and walking in for afternoon hunts, obviously during day-light.

This GIANT yote runs the area during the day. He walked in front of this camera at about 10:30 the morning the photo was taken; I triggered te camera 3 minutes later as I approached it to pull the memory card.

He is unusually large. It's hard to tell from this single photo, but, if you compare this photo to photos of deer taken by the same camera, in the same location, it becomes apparent that this guy is ENORMOUS. He's about the size of a Shepard.

breeding season also I think we are going to start seeing packs. I was called yesterday about 2 to 4 yotes coming into the yard. a black one.

then yotes are not going to attack ya just get out of the tree and walk towards them they will run
