Holy shit tcook.. That is one awesome porch! That mantle is really nice. Do you leave those mounts and tv out all year long? I would be worried the bad weather or humidity would ruin them..

All the mounts,tv and furniture come in for the winter. The mantle , I made my self, from a log that I had a saw mill cut for me. It still had the bark on it when I got it. Cost me $100. If you bought one in the fire place store it would cost you easily $600 and wouldnt even come close to the one I made. The wood on the house wall I had purchased from a saw mill also. It was more affordable than you think and very easy and fun to work with. The name of the saw mill I used is Reipoff's in Allentown. He is by Assunpink WMA. He is a custom log home builder and if you stop in he could give you some ideas if that is the route you want to go. I think the rough cut lumber gives it the lodge kinda feel.

I finished my basement with rough cut hemlock that were taken down in a wind storm on my familys property in ny. I dropped them to a local saw mill in ny and had them cut to 3/4 bat and boards. Then i trucked flat rocks from our river and did my whole fireplace, much like Tcooks. I added a wood stove and some antique firearms and long bows. Ill try and dig up some pics tonight.

My man cave is alot simpler. :D
I studded the walls of basement and hung sheetrock. Instead of trim I used Oak leaves on strings from AC Moore all around the room. Fake tile floor, photon, 46 flatscreen, gaming chair with speakers, electric free standing fireplace. I added the following mounts over the years: Turkey, full bear standing, audad half mount, elk, full mount fox, deer (several) , fallow deer, axis deer, boar, javalina, caribou, buffalo hide over floor, ducks, geese, about 6 or so fish, black buck, and I am sure I am missing something. lol all packed into a 12x12 room! as good as I can get in my current home.

you can't make a mancave it happens overtime
mine has been in the works for 25 yrs
I agree most guys make man caves as entertainment centers for family and friends. My room is called the crow cave, it has work tables, tv, stero etc. Thats my room, I work on rods, reels, guns, anything in there. I can sit down there and watch tv in comfort, wish it had a bathroom.

Any of the mounts outside where purchased. The big horn Sugar mentioned came off ebay as well as the moose antlers I have and the Caribou I bought from Cheyenne Mtn Outfitters last year at their bowhunter bonanza sale. All of my personal mounts are indoors.
