Well Hunters Helping Heroes made and all day event on Monday, we took 4 Veterans “Heroes” down to Maryland with Clint Evans of Fair Winds Gun Club out of Chestertown and hunted the morning and then shot back up to North Jersey to hunt with Scott & Bruce Turner along with Scott’s buddy Brandon and his Chocolate Lab. It was a cold day and the bird were out but just hard to work, we managed to get 2 birds knocked down in MD before hitting the road for a 3 hour drive back to NJ. Up in NJ we arrived at the frozen pond that Scott and Brandon has graciously broken up 1.5” thick ice and set out the floaters and shells so all we had to do is arrive and pull the trigger. A suicide single came in and got crushed and then we had a few stragglers come in and they got pounded with Hevi-Metal to finish the NJ regular Canada season evening shoot with 3 more birds for the day. Our Heroes in attendance were Chris Fazio, Matt Pittore, Tim Krupa and Shane Shepperson. These men roughed it with me all morning, meeting up at 0400 to drive down to MD and then finally arrive back home at 8 p.m. that evening! I cannot thank Clint, Scott, Bruce and Brandon enough for offering up spots for our “Heroes” and on top of that, we would all like to thank Chris, Matt, Tim and Shane for their service and all the sacrifices they endure to help keep “Our” Country safe and free.
