i headed out to frelinghysen today and sat , walked, waited and hunted the entire day.. at 3pm i decided to go back to my truck and get more clothes for the evening hunt. i layered up and walked to a nice treeline between two nice large feilds. within five minutes i see a nice size doe, but just to far for a good shot..so i waited until 445 and see nothing..i still see that doe eatiing in the field so i walk the other way to avoid her and still hope to see a nice buck ..i remove my primer and walk out to the road, and there she is again..now she looks bigger and i still dont want to take her. by this time it is dark and i do not want to gut no deer..then i start to walk to my truck, just then she slowly crosses the road and gets hit by a car!!the car keeps going and this deer is lying on the ground dying! now i cant shoot her because i am in front of someones house.. she dies within a minute or two ..
she ended up having three broken ribs when i gutted her. i would have shot her if it was much earlier in the day.. saved me a bullet and the time chasing her down..it just was'not her day!!!

Good for you. I have no problem picking up road pizza. I call them floppers... Cause I only pick up when I see them hit or are still flopping in the road.
I hate to see them go to waste.

Gunnar, there is a "Road kill tag" it's issued by the local police dept. if there was a report made or if you witness the crash and call it in.

Not sure if the legallity of using a deer tag off the licence though.
