But yet, people who say 'buy American' but drive a Dodge and not an American made Toyota. The old thinking America or nothing doesn't even know the rules anymore. Buy a Dodge or a Ford or a Toyota or a BMW? They don't know! Ford and Cadillac are designed in the US, HOWEVER Toyota trucks and BMW X series have the highest percentage American made parts and assembled 100% in the America.

We are past the industrial revolution. 1st world countries are losing ground if they continue to rely on manufacturing/industrial jobs. And until everyone understands that simple fact, this county will suffer and continue to go down the tubes.

Chinese laborers earn $.72/hour. (That's right, "seventy-two cents!" ) Taiwanese labor is even cheaper. While no one has paid much attention except some who've taken advantage of them, China has been gearing up to take on the world's labor and production.

And that's why they are a 2nd world country and we are not. However, if we don't get off this industry ride, we'll be the new 2nd world country.

There will always be manufacturing in America, because some things are necessary. I work in the manufacturing industry. My company makes the best product in the world, and those companies that need the best pay for the best. If they didn't our customers would be buying it for a hell of a lot cheaper from a 3rd world country.

Bottomline...the industry revolution got us from a new world to a 1st world country, but to keep us there we need to evolve. Additionally, it not country vs. country anymore, the information age made borders disappear. If you are labor that can only make widgets and the widgets manufacturing moves to a 3rd world. What's stopping the worker from moving with their job? Nothing. So, evolve or be left behind...or stay in America and evolve or one can always have the Obama administration take care of them...which sadly, is what many are doing. We are an educated country...act like it!

If you are labor that can only make widgets and the widgets manufacturing moves to a 3rd world. What's stopping the worker from moving with their job? Nothing. I am going to move to China, because the widgets that I use to make moved there. What kind of nonsense is that. Evolve? Some people are not capable of building anything but widgets. Do we force them to china, or put them on the Obamas tit.

Basically what your saying is our economy is fine. If you want the best, and can afford the best.

Again, try to find something that is manufactured in America. Almost impossible.

It does seem there is a less expensive everything out there made in China or Phillipines,etc. We bitch about it but we don't do anything about it. I still do look to see where things are made or grown and have done without because there was not a product made in the USA on the shelf that I like. I have bought things from China or some other foreign country but do my best to avoid it. We need to continue to support products made in the USA and stop buying those cheap foreign products. Nothing can change until we change it and it takes a lot of people to make that change. One day we will be owned by China economically and the day is closer then we think if we don't do something about it. BUY AMERICAN whenever possible.

nope, we bought as much stuff as American Made as we could. But things the customers wanted, Penn Reels, made in China, Rods made in China. Crabtraps, Scents, made in America!!

Thailand is currently paying $.25/hr. But don't despair. This is all about a race to the bottom, not a race to the top. How long do you expect those wages to last as their standards for living change?

I find it real hard to believe that China is the only place that the NRA can buy things to enable them to survive.To compare small local stores barely getting by competing with major stores to the NRA is ridiculous.

Thanks Bigfish! We sold M&M Bucktails made in the USA, and we sold Spro bucktails, made in Thailand. I wish I could say that the M&M outsold the Spro, but that would be a lie. All of our nets were made in China, Thailand, because we couldn't get American made.

When most everything is manufactered in China or overseas, especially cheap promotional type material, that's what you have to sell.

Again, the NRA goes above and beyond what most companies and organizations do by promoting USA made merchandise.

All of our nets were made in China, Thailand, because we couldn't get American made.

A quick google search shows at least a few American companies that make nets.

Was it that you didn't try hard enough to get American made nets or you knew your customers wouldn't pay the extra to buy them?

the small store has .01% of the overhead that the nra has.

Wow this post really made me start thinking. I first read about this in my gun range. It was tacked to the bulletin-board. I was initially ticked off, especially with my NRA renewal form staring at me. Then i read this thread and did a crazy thing.
I went to the NRA store to see what all the hysterics are all about.
Guess what I found. I waving American flag that states made in USA. Wow i can simply choose that and i will only be offered American made products.
Seems pretty simple to me. I wish other online stores would have such a section.
In fact perhaps this could become the new cause. Get all hunting related online stores to have such a section to make it easy for folks to find American products.

BTW I will be renewing my membership with the NRA...
