OK folks here is the story. My daughter and I get to our ground blind at about 6am. It is absolutely beautiful and still. Nothing happening except a jake and longbeard walk by at 8. Then 830 a nice doe about 80 pounder. comes sneaking in. My daughter gets ready and at about 12 yards lets the bolt fly. the deer jumps, bucks and runs about 25 yds. Then stops and walks off. I swaer to the deer gods that when it ran off I could see the hole in its side. I said to her that was a good shot. She said yeah I think so too, and saw a hole in it. we waited 45 minutes and discovered about 7 inches of fletching end of the bolt on the ground. Now here is where it gets funny. No blood on it, no hair on it. OK we started to look for blood. Couldn't find any around the arrow. Saw some hoof marks where it bolted followed them for about 50 yards not a drop on blood or hair. Continued the search looking at every hoof mark we could find. Finally I did a grid search for about 3 hours and couldn't find anything. we recreated the scene several times and just can't figure the damn thin out. My guess is a shoulder hit, but thought I would find some blood or hair. the thing just disappeared without a trace. Maybe aliens. I am so sick and disappointed for my daughter. It was a great scenario and opportunity it was broadside when she took the shot. I have no idea what happened. the good thing is she is ready to go again. any thoughts are appreciated.
