Just thought I would share this with you guys.
I made a fishing rod holder for my poles. I came up with it as a result of never really liking the idea of leaning a fishing rod against the wall.
Anyway up in till this year I really only had a few ultra light poles for trout fishing. And they were easy to dale with because they are small and don’t get in the way at all plus I would leave them in the truck all trout season them pack them away in the basement.
This year I decided to get back into Lake fishing (mainly Bass) and for the first time Salt water fishing. So needless to say I’ve had to buy a few more fishing rods and Tackle not to mention a boat for the lakes.

And now it seems like the fishing rods are in my way every time I turn around and have been knocked down a few times. Now of corse these are not super high end set ups mainly Shimano and Aub Garcia, but I like to take the best care I can of my gear. So I was brain storming an idea for a rod holder, And yes they sell some really nice ones at Cabelas, but I like to make things myself. So last Friday evening this is what I thought up. It’s a simple design that worked out perfect. Now I don’t need to worry about them sliding down the wall or getting moved around because there in the way.

And my kids stole my plans and bought me the list of materials for fathers day.
That was a very nice surprise.

Here are a few Pictures.

What did you use to hold the poles in place on the top bracket
Screw In Gold Hooks.
1" for most rods and 1.5" for the thicker Salt rods.

I just use the cellar rafters

paul i would have covereed the hooks with some kind of felt just to protect the rods
Good point wing [up]
I was planing to pick up some shrink tubbing to put on the hooks. The kids didn't know where to get it. ;)

i need to find a way to store 11 foot rods
Wing same basic design just mounted sideways across the wall. Add blocks of wood to hold the rod but end and turn hooks 45° and that should work. I would add a third section to give the rods support in the center.
