I butcher my own deer but was wondering how many people butcher their own or have it butchered.

So on average how many deer do you take per year?
How much do you spend/expect to spend on butchering?

Spend a few dollars on aluminum foil and do my own. :D Shot 13 one year but usually 2-5 range. Would have no problem shooting dozens more but I eat what I shoot so when the inventory looks good I stop. We cook up a lot for all the friends that come out ice fishing just to eat venison I think:D This year we ran out on Labor day:D I like to take cheese steaks for the boys on the weekly fishing trips:D

I butcher it all myself. I'm only 29 but I learned many years ago from my father how to do it. I used a butcher one years because I was to dang busy with a newborn coming that I just spent the money to save time. Other than that I know exactly where my venison has been so I know it wasn't dropped on the floor, washed off and then packaged. It's not all that hard as long as you have the right setup.

I had 4 buthcered last year and it cost me between 85 and 100 per deer depending on what I wanted. Gets expensive. Adding to the pain my 4 year old daughter thought my stand up freezer was the regular fridge and opened but never closed it fully. We only found out because of the smell of rotting meat from the basement. She was trying to sneak ice pops.

not to hijack the thread - for the guys that do your own butchering...do you bring your bones to the woods for the foxs and coyotes to finish off, or do you just put everything in contractor bags and let the garbage men haul away?
