Don't get down on yourself today was tough with very high humidity & temp.
Amen !! [up][up]

I hunted over a destination food source where a substantial herd of deer feed. We generally see between 30 and 40 deer between these 2 fields- today, I saw ONE DEER. This humidity and heat will ruin your hunt. On days like today, find a water source close to their bedding areas, unfortunately, I go in too late to enter the woods.

I use scent and dye free detergent
That's the ticket.

I sometimes buy "hunting specific" laundry detergent, but, Arm & Hammer odorless (for sensitive skin) detergent is $7 for a huge jug, compared to like $12.99 for a Dead Down Wind bottle !!

Also, I dont buy hunting specific under-arm deodorant, I buy Arm & Hammer odorless- same stuff, $2 a stick instead of $7 !!

Hunting high up definitely can help, but, it just lands your scent further down wind (depending on thermals- thermals are VERY IMPORTANT in both deer movement and location choice).

I killed a mature buck from an 8' ladder stand. The set up was the key; he couldnt get down wind of me unless he went for a swim in a farm pond. It was a morning hunt, so the thermals were also in my favor, and, we knew EXACTLY where he was bedding with a hot doe.

Best to smell like nothing. Arm and hammer baking soda. Scent killer wipes and scent killer spray works well for me. And when I sweat I smell like a sasquatch

my list is,
1: wash my clothes in baking soda or scent killer detergent every few hunts, i keep an extra set of clothes and rotate them
2: hang them outside where no foren oders will get to them, luckily for me i have 5 acres of woods
3:use different blankets, pillows, sheets, towels, even down to my undies, ect that i washed in baking soda ONLY for the night before the hunt
4:shower with scent free products and use scent free deoderant
5:always wear rubber boots, even just checking cams and hanging stands
6:lay a towel washed in scent free detergent down on my truck seat to help keep scent off
7, store my clothes in a rubber tote along with a few pine branches at all times, when im done with the morning hunt, i hang them on my property again as if i were drying them
8:go a minimal of 16ft up
9: spray down with a scent killer, i use Dead Down Wind
10:i sweat alot so as im walking in im always wiping sweat from my forehead
11: the most important is hunt the wind. where i hunt 70% of the time the wind swirls and changes so its hard but i try to take every precaution to stay scent free.

i know im alittle extreme but ive been picked off by scent more than sight and hearing combined

If you are getting busted that often you are doing something wrong. If it's only in this type weather, don't sweat it too much [ninja] it's very tough if not impossible to be fully undetectable.

One thing you aren't using is a cover scent, which is different than scent killing. They do help mask your scents, and work.

I use seemz scent technology...

I only use the drier to recharge my scent lock gear the rest of it gets hung on the line to dry after being washed in sports wash soap (no UV brightners). Before I recharge the scentlock gear I do a load of towels in sports wash and dry them to make sure the drier is wiped down for UV brightners. Shower with HS scentfree body soap, HS deodorant, and spray down with dead down wind. Scent control and wind are two of the most important things you need to pay close attention to.

Height is not nearly as important as cover where you hunt. Spray down and #1 hunt the wind. If its bad hunt somewhere else or get on the ground from a different angle so the wind in in you favor. Good luck

I agree, Rob. The odor emitted from our mouths is often over-looked, and, can get us busted super quickly. I brush with baking soda and chew odor gum before I hunt. I do whatever I can, its a process, but, even when working the wins, we r depositing scent. When the wind changes, out scent particles that get caught on foliage can now blow back toward the deer, after we r gone.
