Good Job... congrats!!!

Good job getting back out there[up]

[up] Good work. For the record though, you said you found first blood at 60 yds. and then saw her belly at another 20. That adds up to 80 yds.[lol][lol] The only point I was trying to make is that sometimes out of excitement, we don't see or hear clearly. I'm VERY GLAD you recovered your deer and only questioned the statement so you could re-evaluate the situation and help you recover.

[rofl]well using that logic lets take it one step farther. Found blood 60 yards from where the deer was hit, found it another 20 yards makes 80 yards traveled plus the 20 yard distance of the shot = 100[hihi][hihi]

In this weather and ground conditions, it's hard to believe you can hear a crash 100 yds away.
Sure why not? Just cause the ground is wet? I know the dampness muffles sound but I've heard deer crash in the rain, there are dead limbs, branches and blow downs, even dead limbs still attached to the tree, plenty of things to make noise , especially when a deer is on a DEATH RUN as this one was.
Congrats on a fine deer.

my question is, every deer I hit quartering away made it less than 60 yds, anyone have one run farther?
Not usually, unless the angle is to steep and you only get one lung, which does occasionally happen.

Shot this nice management doe yesterday afternoon on a quartering away shot, she went 50 yards and piled up hard.
The shot took out one lung with a long slice and and center punched thru the top of her heart.
