From what I've seen, alot of these requests lately are for help learning waterfowl hunts not necessarily help looking for spots. I've got a dog (young one) and plan to duck hunt whe she's ready, but am clueless when it comes to duck hunting. It can't be as easy as "doing some research to find a spot" and for that matter, do you really want a newbie screwing up your hunt because no one took a day to show 'em the ropes? And while yes, a few novices can chip in for a guided hunt, whatever happened to good old sportsmanship?[confused]

It died and was burried the last time someone was taken to a secret duck spot and then showed up there the next day with his friends
touche~[cry]

It pretty much is finding the spot. Some spots you don't even need to call just throw the decoys out and you will shoot a limit. Location is everything if you are where the birds wanna be you will kill them.

Can't help you out with any spots up in your neck of the woods but i would look into some waterfowl chapters up in Bergen Cty. Like Ducks Unlimited etc and attend some of their meetings.

PM me if you have any other questions.

Mike

Thanks every one that has posted a positive reply on here. For the others, you just the Cain of people that do not even have their friend coming over because they're scare some one is gonna streal their girl.

This is the thing that drives people nuts on the internet, they have been burned by being nice to people. In waterfowling location is everything. A suggestion in your asking would be to be truthful from the start by not saying straight out that you have never duck hunted and are interested you have already presented yourself as suspicious. I will refer you to my first sentence. If you want to get your post back on track be truthful and give some background on your experience and by all means an offering of some help with equipment, getting ready, etc. Goes along way. The use of your vehicle is nice, but alittle out of place. This is why your getting abit of a rough time. I'd offer but your about 2 1/2 hrs from me. Good luck. Chris

Thanks for the tip Gruntinbuck, all the help the you mentioned is also included. And my backgrounds on duck hunting, I used to hunt in Cuba since I was 9 years old. The only reason I offer my help in exchange of taking me hunting is to learn the proper way and regulations and what can be done and what can not. It looks to me that hunting here is a lot different, ( in Cuba you hunt so you Can eat some meet, in here is a sport) so i don't want to screw up.

I agree, and understand the position he is in. Duck or goose hunting is hard, its not a easy thing and the only way I was able to learn is with someones help. I dont have the set up to do goose hunting I normally go with others and help out. other wise I would help you out.

I mean the guy is offering to drive to your house and help out, all you have to do is show him the how to.

x2...I don't duck hunt either

ok..so none of you "hey just help him out" guys, waterfowl hunt (shocking [eyeroll]).......That makes it pretty easy to throw stones

I doubt many of you would be singing the same tune if it was something you're more "interested" in (ie your private/public DEER spot) And don't even try to compare waterfowl hunting spots to taking a guy out to chase STOCKED ditch chickens...

The are a few hard core waterfowlers in this state that know what it takes to be consistently "on the birds" here in NJ(it aint easy)...Most of you deer or small game guys have No idea what it takes or for that matter even care how hard it is to be successful....You view ducks and geese the same way I view a guy getting a boner over some basket rack 6 on his trail cam

Day in and day out any successful waterfowler puts in 100X more work then any deer hunter in this state....Not to mention the $$$
