Everyone always talks about mounting their bucks, but really for me, the first deer I take will be worthy of a space on my wall. I've gotten mixed feedback on what other people think. So if i'm lucky enough to take a doe for fall bow, she will be going on my wall. Plus, i'm banking on getting my doe so I can get a buck tag!

So has anyone else gotten a Doe mount?

I would think about maybe getting a pedastool or telling your taxidermist you plan on mounting it with a buck so they put it in a good position where the buck and doe mount will go together. So then you get the best of both worlds most people wouldnt mount a doe but you want to so you get that done and then when you shoot a buck it looks even better next to the doe. Just my 2cents something to think about

I have never had it done but why not.
We mount animals because they mean something to us.
Sounds like you will be very proud of your first deer and why not mount it. Some of my smaller mounts are some of the best memories. I have a small 7 pointer that was my first hand gun deer. My handloads and in my yard in NC

This one has a great story behind it
She was smoking a pipe by your tree? Are her eyes red? Looks tired. Is that a chukar strangling itself in the back? Poor thing can't take Obama's change anymore!

Okay, good to know I'm not so completely nuts. And I think a doe and a buck next to each other (hopefully from the same fall bow season) would be perfect.

Same taxidermist? Is it me or do the top eyelids look too low? Maybe my mounts eyes are too open?

What do you guys think would make for a better mount, an early season doe still in the summer coat or one one with their winter coat?

I would think the winter one since it hides any imperfections better.
