okay here's the situation:

when i use my left or right turn signal instead of them working properly what happens is the green arrow in my dash turns on (it turns on as a constant light not blinking like it normally does) and i don't hear the blinking noise in the dash and the actual turning lights don't come on in the front of back. also when i turn the hazards on the same thing happens, a constant green light for the left arrow and right arrow and no lights in the front of back of the jeep.

now i know it's not the turn signal flasher because it's both the turn signals and hazards that aren't working and i swapped one out from a friends jeep and it didn't help.

my other thought is it could be a bad ground but then would the lights in my dash still come on? also, where is the ground for this circuit?

someone told me it could be the switch but then the i would have to pull the column.

if anyone knows or has advice please let me know as i got pulled over today and barely talked my way out of it. i want to fix this asap as it's my only mode of transportation....

I agree,I know it sounds like a long shot, But it sounds like you may simply have at least two blown bulbs, probable one on each side. check the bulbs.

I had the same trouble not long ago, and it was the wiring harness(rubber boot) that goes to the drivers door, wires were all messed up in there...

First thing is check the bulbs

I'm not sure if you mean relay when you say flasher but if you don't mean relay, then check that. That's what controls the blinking and it's probably right near the fusebox itself. They're the little silver cylinders that plug into a board.

Try googling to find a jeep forum, you'll probably find a DIY section that covered this already.

i've read similiar situations on the jeep forums but not the exact same problem so i have ideas of what it could be but i don't know for certain yet. if you have the wiring diagram let me ask you this - if it was a ground problem then would the green lights in my dash still be able to come on? i think it's on the same circuit meaning that the ground would have to be good or the light in my dash wouldnt be lighting...
 
Have you done any electrical work to the vehicle recently ie. Stereo install, fog light install? Just curious if something you did may have affected the signals. I ask cause Ive done stuff like that in the past.
 
I think Drop Tine nailed it. I was forever replacing bulbs in my jeep. when one blows the do the exact thing you describe because they stop completing the circut to cause the light to blink. Some newer cars a blown bulb makes the arrows blink faster when a bulb blows. It probably wouldn't hurt to get some contact cleaner, take all the bulbs out and clean the sockets. There may be old grease or corrosion in the sockets that is causing problems as well. after cleaning the sockets and applying a THIN coat of grease try the bulbs again if they are not obviously blown.
 
I have alot of experience with these jeeps and first thing I would do is get a new flasher and put it in I don't care if u swaps it with your buddies. Check power to the flasher check all fuses and bulbs if that's all good u need a multifunction switch in the column
 
ive had 2 cherokees and 1 got water in the light housing and caused the bulb to short, another possibility is, happened to my ranger, the hazard buttom doesnt come out all the way and caused the blinker on the dash to stay lit, try pulling the hazard button out and wiggle it alittle
 
the 93 doesnt have a multi function switch, that started in 94, more than likely not a switch problem. but it may have a factory equipped tow harness, check behind the rear bumper for a rusted out connector, even aftermarket connectors can cause problems when they corrode.

i figured out what the problem was this morning - i started looking behind the bumber like sid61 said and found where the wire was broken from being rusted/corroded. i didn't think it could be an open circuit like this because the lights in the dash worked but it's fixed now. THANKS GUYS!!
