i have a simple 20ft cc with a 1987 150 on it. i have ff, am/fm radio, marine radio,a couple lights and bilge pump. what battery/batteries should i be using? and what gets hooked up to which battery?

I use the everstarts from walmart on my bass boat. last about 3 years and then I replace them.

Optima batteries and the wall mart brand are the same batteris with different labeling, my company makes them both, as well as die hard and many other brands!

I find that real hard to believe pakman. Not callin bs but I have owned both. And optima charges faster and lasts longer. Only problem with Optima is when they are going bad there is no warning. They just die. As other batteries will just start to loose power faster and give you a heads up you need new.

Again I am not saying your bs just my exspeariance in my bassboat fishing NJBF trnys for 25yrs.

I prefer to wire the cranking batter ONLY for the engine. Reasons being that no matter how much you run your radios, lights, etc., you still will have the capability to start your motor. Run everything else off of a deep cycle battery. My .02 cents.

now when the motor is running it should be charging the cranking battery right? so i i hooked up the 2 batteries to a dual battery switch and put it on "both" while the motor is running...it should charge both?

as far as a bass boat, 2 batterys wired in series just for trolling motor and electronics off the cranking battery cause that charges when you run the motor.
