1996- 2000 Toyota Tacoma

Anyone else get a recall on their Tacoma due to corrossion? I received one on my 1999 Tacoma and dropped it off yesterday at Crystal...options are 1) spray undercarriage 2) replace frame 3) toyota buy back

well i just got the call and it is a BUY BACK! so i am now waiting on Toyota rep to come out and evaluate the vehicle

Make sure to ask if the vehicle is safe to drive. IT IS NOT! Ask for a loaner/rental. They SHOULD provide you with one until claim is processed. STRIP IT (after value is determined!!!
Check their claim form. They left off A/C, CD player and a few other options that coulda cost me a 1k or more.
I had my 98 bought back for 10K ($4500 bb value) and sold parts off of it for an additional 1K (tires, rims, hitch, etc).
DO NOT do anything but have them buy it back. Check the Toyota forums for the horror stories of frames taking 6 months to be replaced. No thanks, cash please!

Be prepared if they buy it back.Go on links like kelly blue book for a value. Toyotas are one of the most expensive used trucks.Dont settle for less .Good luck.

Remember, you can take anything you want off the truck. It is YOURS until they give you a check! I've read of guys pulling engines/trans out and dropping it off via flatbed!

Toyota trucks were famous for rust problems in the 1980's and 90's. I knew a guy that had one and he always said that the body would fall off before the engine or trans goes.[rofl]

My brothers 03 tundra was recalled for frame deterioration issues. Not sure of the outcome.

The recall includes 2000-2006 Toyota Tundras also.

mine was a 2001 they replaced the frame,leafsprings,shocks,oilpan,brakelines and installed a new emergency brake all for FREE.... also a loaner car for one month ..all for FREE...

i looked at kelly and nada and on high end 8-9K and low end 5K.....

funny thing is loaner vehicle is 2011 Camry- i asked if they minded a dead turkey in the trunk

My 2001 Taco got inspected and had no problems. They did wax the frame to protect from future damage.

It is just starting to break in with 182,000 miles on it.

i see nothing about 2000-2006 Tundras being effected. i have an 06 and new they had some issues with some earlier models

If you went to west Caldwell Toyota chances are my buddy did the work. He always complains about them!

Bring it to Ducati he will have it stripped down to a bucket of bolts and a pile of parts in no time he dosnt even need the keys! Bring them back just the frame! get ahold of him as a matter of a fact look out side to make sure its still there I heard he was in your area[rofl]
