What a great morning. My daughter got her 2nd bird of the year. It was a great hunt on public land(Turkey Swamp wma). We spotted 2 toms and a hen in a gr [no swearing please] field so we ducked down in the woods and closed to within 80 yards of them. My buddt Bill set up next to her and I backed off about 40 yards. He made a few calls on his box call, no response. He then clucked hard on it and they gobbled. He them went to his mouth call and did some soft yelps, no response. Figuing they might not leave the hen,he crow called. They both fired off and were very close. Courtney got ready, he made a couple more soft yelps and that sealed the deal. Both of the birds came up over a small rise. Next I heard the safety click off and bang. She made a perfect shot and had her 2nd turkey. It was smaller than the bird she killed on the youth day but still a nice bird. It was 17 lbs 1/2 inch spurs and it had 2 beards one was 3.5 inches and the other 3 inches. Needless too say she is hooked on turkey hunting and was a very happy kid.
