The difference between a moral sportman and a law breaking POS is $15. Why do you think you should get out of paying the $15.00? Pay the $15. or dont go fishing and if you do go I hope you get caught and heavily fined. You are no different then someone shooting more then a bag limit or a buck when they dont have a buck tag. If you are not licensed then you do not get to have access to the resource plain and simple. Just do the right thing.

All I'm saying is the bill passed and the GOV. signed it to be a free registry. So way would you pay it's free this year. What I'M ASKING IS WAY THE SITE IS NOT UP? I pay my fair share to this state i'm not a poacher.I fish and hunt and buy my lic and permit's.Why would you give 15 buck's to the goverment if you don't have to.They get more than enough money from me .

Contact Anthony Mauro @ The NJOA, perhaps he can help shed a little light on what the issues are with the free registry ;)

Hunter do in fact affect the natural resources by keeping down the number of deer on the road for which we are not reward in anyway. As taxpayers we are entitled some of the benefits of out taxes.Does anyone really think fisherman will see any benefit from this snake down.Personally I dont care what they do as I do most of my fishing on the Chesapeake.Yes I pay for a License but you sure the hell can see what Virginia does with the money.

i got the free license this year.
and i still think it's total BS.
summer time, at a BBQ on saturday night, guy want to fish with me on sunday, now he can't unless we find a computer. BS
my boat is in the driveway now, and it may stay home this year. the fishing in the delaware bay has been down the last few years, gas is high, marinas do the least they can to stay in business anymore. and we end up paying more fees every year. i need a nj license to fish salt water, delaware license to cross the shipping channel? Blow me.

fyi for those asking why the state hasn't gotten up their free registry website as we were originally told for April 1st. Remember that this site will hold some of your very important personal information that can easily be hacked by bad guys looking to sell info on identity theft, etc. Our state Division of F&W has never had to do anything like that themselves, our current online license system for freshwater and hunting is overseen by a private corporation who takes huge steps to avoid identity theft issues.

This is one of the problems caused by the Governor's signature of a failed, unfunded mandate. The bottom line is noting is "free", not even a free registry. To implement it, the Division plans to use its own people and create its own website yet lacks the expertise to do so in a timely fashion. Time will tell how they do in the long run. In the meantime, why the hell didn't you guys get the free registry last December before we knew what would happen this year? There were a million posts here on just that topic. Now you have to pay $15 or wait for the state to get its act together...

Remember, the registry started last year. Those guys who registered early in 2010 had to wait for their registrations to expire. ;)

You could only get it for free if you never registered before or if your expiration date was within 30 days. Simple truth is 5 Gallons of gas costs more...just pay
(Underlined portion) Perfect point.

My first registry expires this month but I re-registered in December of 2010 and now my new one expires Dec 2011.

Getting the web site up for the registry is probably the easiest task the DEP has to do to set it up. The creation of the regulation, statue, federal approval, financing & etc. are the problems.
