I like hunting divers but I'm hoping to use it this year for puddlers on small water too.
If you can find a medium sized lake a kayak can be deadly on divers if you see a raft paddle out and just let the wind blow you into the middle of them while you are sitting down in the bottom then when you are in range pop up and blast them, it is lots of fun on slow days

Kayaks + Coastal = DEAD
Well said swampy, the bay and tidal rivers are not a good place for kayaks, stick to medium and small lakes and the creeks
No offense fellas, but those are ridiculous statements. As long as you are using proper equipment, accomplished at your kayaking by learning your yak and techniques. There's no reason why you can't go into these waters. Hundreds if not thousands of kayakers do it everyday...I am one of them.

Really??? I guess thats why everyone has a $500 dieyak as opposed to a Couple thousand dollar duck boat on the bay[spy]

Good for you[up] I'd say there is a slight difference in going striper fishing in may and paddling around like a guppie from June till september.....Then there is from November till late January...Factor in Gear(i e waders dekes gun) and Go get em Gilligan! I'll look for you in the paper

Also 60 degrees, blue skys and no wind aren't exactly my idea of "waterfowl weather" perhaps its yours...... With in reason hardcore waterfowlers don't let their gear dictate weather or not they'll go hunting....Now I don't own a 21ft banks...But that didn't stop me from going out anyday, anywhere or in any condition and bagging birds.....

If you like dieyaks....I found an ever better rig for you!

I'd be really careful hunting out of a kayak.

I went duck hunting out of mine which I had done many times before. It was bitter cold out.

To make a long story short some geese flew up the side of me and I took a shot at them. Before I knew what had hit me I was in the water.

I'm a strong swimmer but I almost drown.

My shotgun, binoculars, camera are still on the bottom.

I always thought about making some sort of frame work for my camo, but never couldn't come up with a design.
I have a milk crate cut to fit and tied down behind my seat to which I have 3 pvc tubs fastened with pipe clamps. These hold my rods and net/gaff. You can always mount 1 in the bow and instead of rods use pvc pipes in the 2 outer ones which are angled seaward. use elbows and another pvc pc of pipe on each side to run fore and aft. and drape your camo material accordingly. using a t in the center for stabilization and roof or opening. .

Again i agree with swampy, big difference between summer and winter. Durring the summer go for it, if you fall out you climb back in, in 2 degree weather with the bay half frozen when you fall in that is all you do because the shock will have you so quick you wont be able to do any thing else.

I can wade out to were I hunt the bay so within reason I'll use the kayak on good days but I got the kayak with hopes to use if for little puddler spots cause I can launch it on my own unlike my boat I use in the bay and open water.

I will agree with you that icy condition are very dangerous.
