ive seen your vids shooting the bow & you are a great shot.. so why go to a crossbow & make it easier ? why not go the other way with traditional
Thanks for the compliment... and I was totally against crossbows in the beginning of the season... I had one when I was in high school and decided to check out the new ones... that is how I ended up getting a crossbow this past season... and I can honestly tell you that today, I am a better shot with my compound bow than my crossbow... and I mean hunting, not target... so the crossbow is more of a challenge for me... not sure if that makes sense but when it comes down to the actual hunt, the arrows hit where I wanted with the bow and the bolts were a little high with the crossbow, I like to hit exactly where I want and I will practice that on woodchucks.
I can pick up my xbow and hit anything out to 30yrds but can do the same with compound even after not shooting for a month, but not with the recurve.
I totally agree with you maximus! I have a recurve, I had a 20" spread 7 pointer come in the first time I went hunting with my recurve, I shot over it's back and the recurve went in the corner of the man cave.... I was lucky enough to get that buck the following week with my compound... I did not practice enough with the recurve, I tip my hat to the guy's that get deer with a longbow or recurve... some things people are just naturals at... when it comes to recurves, I never put the time into it to find out... and I have something to look forward to, I love the whole traditional thing but when I do it, I will be 110% committed to it, I respect deer too much to do it half assed like I did in my early 20's.
but i still use the gun to train the dogs..
I was recently thinking about joining a bow club, I asked if they allowed crossbows... I was told that he didn't think any members owned one... but I was told they shoot skeet with shotguns on Sundays... BOW ONLY said that he hates crossbow and that is cool... I didn't pick up a gun this past season and I have no desire to touch any of my guns right now, I just sold my S&W 629 .44 Mag so I could get more goodies for my new Bear Attack compound... but I still have a Glock model 22 for... well, you know. But anyway, raising an eyebrow about crossbows and then saying "let's go shoot skeet" when you are supposedly about bows is a contradiction to me...[confused]
