What bolts you shooting FA?
Shooting the Victory X-Bolt. I lucked out with my scope, the only dot that is not right on is the 30 yard, I have to hold it about 1 1/2" high... but I will have to check everything again, I just put the Monster Jax on the limbs again to try to tame the block buster crack! Damn Jax came off in the winter, I Fletch Tited the bastards on this time!

What is with the snow? This past Saturday was okay, still pretty chilly and I only had 2 chucks out all afternoon in sussex county... doubt it is going to be any warmer this weekend... c'mon spring!

It is a gun is it not
Wouldn't say it is a gun... can't compare! The yardage factor is the same as a bow... guns depending on what caliber and grain bullet... with a gun you can put the crosshairs on top of a chucks head when he is standing at what you believe is 240 yards and still smoke him if he was actually at 250 yards... that same scenario(actually not because there is a 200 yard difference) but in the crossbow world is if you put the crosshairs on his nose when he is standing and you are thinking he is at 40yards but he is actually at 50.... you missed! If it is at 25 yards and you thought 20 yards, you may still hit it in the... well, woody, I mean johnson! No comparison! More like a bow than a gun!

I decided to set it up like a gun for varmints!
it's not archery equipment
its a gun......

stick with the compound or traditional archery.

Just curious, do you own any guns? Do you do any firearm hunting for deer, pheasant etc.?

I know SS at least uses guns for his chucks... so he is not "strictly archery".

Not that I really care but if an anti tells me not to shoot deer for food, they should be total vegetarian... I can understand that but if they say it while they are eating a hamburger... A-hole!

Fieldarcher,
Don't bother getting into it with these guys. Your set up looks nice and if you want to nail chucks with it,go for it. As a compound, xbow and TRADITIONAL ARCHER I have been on all sides of the fence. Wether some think it's a gun shouldn't matter to you, I can pick up my xbow and hit anything out to 30yrds but can do the same with compound even after not shooting for a month, but not with the recurve. Guys that shoot compounds need to come to grips with the fact that the compounds today only remotely resemble a "real bow" [hihi]Afterall if holding 10lbs after the wheels turnover with a mechanical release while looking thru your peep at your multiyardage sight exemplfies a utopian type experience for them so be it. I think it's pretty cool that you're going after chucks with it instead of the rifle. Good luck

yes i own guns, but no i dont hunt deer with them..
because ITs too easy, not a challenge

im just starting to hunt pheasants with a bow,but i still use the gun to train the dogs..

ive seen your vids shooting the bow & you are a great shot.. so why go to a crossbow & make it easier ? why not go the other way with traditional..

whatever dude, i dont care...use a flame thrower...i hate crossbows..they should only used during gun seasons or for the disabled/ old guys...they arent allowed on any of my pieces...B-HOLE[rofl]

So what's your problem? He should go traditional just to please the likes of you? Move on dude
yes please me im God[rofl]..

no, i just hate crossbows during ARCHERY SEASON. i talk sh!t to the few that i know that use them.. i tell the young guys to do a few pushups or hit the gym & pull a bow back..
my cousin shoots deer with a 300 win mag.. I tell him all the time he is gay...

just ignore me...[rofl] BUT they still suck

Thanks for the compliment... and I was totally against crossbows in the beginning of the season... I had one when I was in high school and decided to check out the new ones... that is how I ended up getting a crossbow this past season... and I can honestly tell you that today, I am a better shot with my compound bow than my crossbow... and I mean hunting, not target... so the crossbow is more of a challenge for me... not sure if that makes sense but when it comes down to the actual hunt, the arrows hit where I wanted with the bow and the bolts were a little high with the crossbow, I like to hit exactly where I want and I will practice that on woodchucks.

I totally agree with you maximus! I have a recurve, I had a 20" spread 7 pointer come in the first time I went hunting with my recurve, I shot over it's back and the recurve went in the corner of the man cave.... I was lucky enough to get that buck the following week with my compound... I did not practice enough with the recurve, I tip my hat to the guy's that get deer with a longbow or recurve... some things people are just naturals at... when it comes to recurves, I never put the time into it to find out... and I have something to look forward to, I love the whole traditional thing but when I do it, I will be 110% committed to it, I respect deer too much to do it half assed like I did in my early 20's.
but i still use the gun to train the dogs..
I was recently thinking about joining a bow club, I asked if they allowed crossbows... I was told that he didn't think any members owned one... but I was told they shoot skeet with shotguns on Sundays... BOW ONLY said that he hates crossbow and that is cool... I didn't pick up a gun this past season and I have no desire to touch any of my guns right now, I just sold my S&W 629 .44 Mag so I could get more goodies for my new Bear Attack compound... but I still have a Glock model 22 for... well, you know. But anyway, raising an eyebrow about crossbows and then saying "let's go shoot skeet" when you are supposedly about bows is a contradiction to me...[confused]

Why is it I never see any Xbows at a 3D archery shoot
Is it because THEY say it is a gun?[lol] I have problems pulling my carbons shot from my compound out of those targets... I couldn't imagine shooting one with the "Mosquito" and trying to pull that bolt out!;)[rofl][rofl][rofl]

Listen, join us on the next shoot with that bug so we can see it in action. But don't get mad if we leave you behind since it takes forever to crank that thing up okay;):D

SS!
