Picked up my pistol tonight

Like mentioned in other posts i went with a 6 shot s&w 686 in 357 mag. 6" barrel adjustable rea sight etc etc....

Sweet looking and pointing gun. Cant wait to put a few rounds through it.

Question now is where in north jersey can i do some shooting?

I have a 686 in a 4 inch. I really like it and used it in NRA competition for a few years. Good luck with it.

Start out shooting .38 Specials in it until you get used to the trigger pull and figure out where it's shooting. Much cheaper and less fatigue.

S and W's site says this about calibers "chambered for .357 Magnum and .38 S&W Special +P calibers"

I have a box of standard 38spl. Can it be used or is i differebt then 38 s&w special+P????

I assume that itll shoot all 38 special ammo but i just wanna make sure. What is a P caliber anyway?

Im new to handguns and just wanna make sure i have the right ammo.

357 is on the left in both and .38 SPL on the right....I have the correct ammo?

+P ammo is generally hotter (more powerful) than standard loads. You can shoot regular rounds in a pistol rated for +p ammo but avoid shooting +P ammo out of a pistol that is not rated for +P.

Any 357 can handle the pressures of +P 38spl ammo just fine. You should also have no issues shooting standard 38spl from a 357.
