I was wondering if Harry's or sportsman's carry's powder for reloading? It is a $25.00 extra shipping fee to order online. Or if there is anywere close to Howell.

Thanx Steve

I'm down South Jersey. So, I go to Delaware where it is cheaper plus no sales tax. If in North or Central NJ then you may want to go to PA. Two years ago while Comrade Corzine was still governor the Soviet Peoples Republic of NJ doubled the annual license fee for dealers to sell powder in NJ. Most of the gun shop owners around here said they did not renew the license because they could not afford the hike and the cost would be too much to pass on to customers. So, even if you find a dealer in NJ who still sells powder the price will probably be about $10-$15 more per pound. Even buying online and paying the $25 Hazmat would be better if you buy several pounds. Maybe get together with friends and order in bulk.

Don't know about any places south of me. I was in a bind yesterday for some powder and drove upstate N.Y. for a pound. It cost me $32.50 after tax! (Last purchase I recall making it was only $18.99. Granted, that was a while ago, but holy powderkeg Batman!) Next time, I'll drive to PA and get some in bulk. IMR powders are $10 cheaper by the pound out in PA. And a dollar more for Winchester or Hodgdon powders. If you buy a lot, it may be worth the trip.

Last time I was at Cabelas in Pa was on the way home from Harrisburg show a few weeks ago. The average cost for IMR was $22-$23 per pound. About the same price in Delaware. That is what I said earlier about NJ would be $10-$15. NY being that high probably has a similar high license fee for dealers also.

I have a connection in Easton, PA that has excellent prices. Doesn't help with your immediate need, Stevo, but the idea of some sort of group purchase may offer some even better discounts through him. I'll track down his contact info and make a posting to see if anyone wants in.

Oh, back to your original question, Cheyenne Outfitters (part of and next door to the New Harry's) does have some powder but they are a rip off on everything. I bought a bunch of stuff there last weekend (including some Bullseye) for convenience and paid at least 15% more for everything

Cheyenne Mountain sells powder for reloading. It is kept secure behind the counter and you need to ask a salesperson for assistance in buying it. You will also need your FID or drivers license to purchase
