I've been harvesting and cooking down maple sap for the last few weeks now. My best day was last Thursday I pulled 19 gallons of maple sap. Today i hit the 40 gallon mark in my cooker so boiled down to syrup. I totaled right under 1 gallon. It came out really dark.

I'll tell you what though it came out really good and i cant wait for some pancakes

The next batch is going to be for sale, I am really just looking to cover my propane costs. I am still figuring a price but if you interested let me know.

Awesome, nobody does that anymore. Let me know when you will have it for sale and where you are located. The last time that i had "Real" maple syrup was probably about 15 plus years ago. My cousin brought it from New Hampshire where his friend made it.

my girlfriends father saps at his cabin in maine i think last year he had over 300 gallons of sap which would have cooked down to around 10 gallons of syurp but he had so much sap and the weather got too hot and spoiled some of the sap he had waiting to be cooked down i think he ended up with around 5 or 6 gallons of syurp this was over about a 3 week period, snowshoeing to collect all the sap 2 times a day, when i asked him how much he thought it cost him to do this he said its cheaper to go buy the fake stuff in a store for a reason and why those little bottles of the real stuff is so much $$$
