Stop crying and cough up some $ for a saltwater license!

What is all the fuss? Bunch of cry babies about coughing up a few $'s for conservation!

Let them charge a $10 fee for a state license administered by NJ Fish and Wildlife, thus allowing the Feds to match that $10 with the Wallop Breaux 3 to 1 ratio formula ($30) for a total of $40 coming back dedicated to our states leading conservation governmental agency-NJFW ($40 x's the number of fisherman is a hell of a lota of money for our NJFW to do their best work for our resources-ALL OF THE STATES RESOURCES! Bears, birds, fish, salamanders, water, woods, etc.

Enough of this crap that I dont want my license money paying for pheasants or I want it going only for stripers, it all goes to NJFW and they are competent enough to spend it plus the federal money on what they see fit.

Instead of spending $10 at WaWa for a coffee and snack or for a pack of cigarettes, put it towards a salt water license-pay something towards your kids and grandkids future days afield in NJ's outdoors!

Are fisherman really that cheap!

Thousands of dollars spent on boats, gear, fuel, etc. and some sportsmen are crying about paying a nominal fee that will pay for good data, LE, equipment, youth sporting programs, etc.!

!!! BULLETIN!!!NOTHING IN LIFE IS FREE-EVEN SALTWATER FISHING!

A highly decorated and dedicated conservation leader of this state said that the funding provided by a saltwater license to the NJFW would be the MOST significant action to occur for all of New Jerseys natural resources in his career and probably the most significant in state history.

So what's the problem? Pay for a friggin license, shut up, and go fishing!!!

actually there are things in life that should be your right and are free.

second it is only a matter of time before the state gets their hands on the money.

My biggest question is what is happening to the money that is already there and where can we see how it is spent?

split, there will be an end for sure, but the end will be a defunct conservation agency, polluted waters, no woods, kids that all they do is play video games or join gangs, political hacks in charge of our resources, etc.

Obviously, this shuda been done a long time ago and we would have been better off being known for being the best conservation state in the nation instead of being known as the most densely populated state in the nation.

I pay alot also but Im sure I cud come up w a few extra dollars for something this important

Before you know it there will be different "permits" and zones for each beach you want to fish. I'm all about conservation but why do so many other states have so much better conservation for so much less $? Charge me 1 fee And let me hunt fish when and where I want with what I want. The " all around sportsman" is an absolute joke of a license meaning it's misleading. Honestly where does all of this $ go to? How come other states have better wma's and lic are a lot cheaper?

Its a waste of my money but I will spend it. I am sooo tired of them targeting the recreational fisherman and not the commercials. At the end of the day I may catch 500 bass a season, but they get that in a % of one haul...and I let all mine go.

While I agree that the 10-20 bucks for a license isnt going to break anybody, it def has to do with where it put to use.
you dont see them stocking the ocean nor stopping out of state boats from hammering our bait sources here.
There needs to be some major changes in the whole fisheries, not just an imposed license fee.

There is ALOT of money generated by both the recreational fleet and the commercial fleets here in NJ.
Just the amount of tax on the gas that were still paying for over the road fees on (while only being in the water) should way than more support , any type of license fee.

Your right nothing is free anymore, but dont forget the tax money generated from gas, lunch . tackle sales.
It really adds up

Well they still dont call it a saltwater license... it's a saltwater "registry"
more political BS euphamistic PC wishy washy nomenclature misdirection. If they wont call it what it is, a saltwater fishing license and not try to give it some holy epic pseudo importance, then how are we to trust that these funds are going to be used properly?

And how come all of the sudden this requires all the extra money? did NJ just get an ocean? has no one fished saltwater before? fishing has improved with no extra money, now I have to buy another license?

I already shell out for an all around, and stamps, and zone permits- deer (per weapon per zone per season) and turkey, and rifle permit.

Why isnt it part of the regular fishing license?
Oh and dont forget "Bonus Striper permit" WHEN WILL IT END?
Dont forget all the money taken in by violation fines.

And for those of us who delt with the fluke BS between NJ and NY size limits... is the license gonna standardize this crap out?

And honestly I am really not sure what this "registry" actually does that hasnt been done before.

F it if it goes to der schwatze fuher coin purse to piss away, if it ALL stays here in NJ the ok, but stop calling it anything but a fishing license.

It's the principal of the matter.

Apparently the "State/Government" now owns the water, fish and sand, as well as the land wildlife.

Citizens should NOT have to pay a fee to be able to live off of what's naturally provided, especially if the monies are being diverted things other than conservation.

Someone noticed there could be a big pay day if they charged people to fish...That's what it's about, if you ask me. Unless the State can prove, through an outside audit, that ALL funds related to this "registration fee" are being utilized to enhance, sustain, or repair something to do with wildlife conservation- I call B.S.

Ill pay if I can keep something. Lower the size limits stop closing seasons and let me fish. I pay enough in gas,bait, and dock fees. Wouldnt mind if I could bring a few home for the table. Woulsd also like a per boat license now if I want to take someone on my boat one time they need a license. Just pay one fee and the boat is covered.

No state government would turn down federal matching money at a 3 to 1 ratio and the only way that the feds would disperse that money is if it was dedicated to the resources (Wallop Breaux federal legislation from a long time ago and has been working ever since-this money is generated by placing an excise tax on fishing gear and sending it to feds, then feds can redistribute this money to states that have licenses (that count the number of anglers they have) and to states that dedicate the federal money to the resources (audits are coducted often to prove this) Is this new info for anyone? Kinda thot most sportsman knew about Wallop Breaux and Pittman Robertson legislation that funds conservation programs. If not I can hava friend with genuine knowlege of this stuff put up some info.

I would be happy to pay for biologists to study the fluke data that would show them that recreational fluke fishermen can keep 5 fish at 15 inches or something like that, something that u can at least go home and have a meal with the family.

Oh yeah, it would be a significant amount of money that NJFW would be getting, more than they ever had before, basically a dream come true for a Conservation Administrator who wants the best for the resources and has waited a career to have the money to do everything they wanted, but someone said it, watch out for the vultures trying to get their hands on it, before u know it, NJSP would be doing resource patrols and NJFW would be merged with NJSP

Why should we celebrate when you have to buy multiple licenses to fish NY/NJ/New england. Its a another tax to enrich the beauracracy. Government can't do it better and once its in place the price will continue to rise[down][down] It's Unamerican[cry][cry][cry]

on a serious note.. A license needs to be handle like the southern coastal states.. Money collected gets you to manage a resources.. Not the " General Fund Policy".. If I buy a license to fish as a charter boat.. I hope , i dont see the masses of out of state bunker boat slaugthering the pods of bait again..

I registered last season and when i got my call from NOOA for my survey.. The rep. never once asked about my catch #'s for the season.. just what port I sailed out of?? Now what a EZ pass for port entry>>



Bewtween Fuel Cost, Insurance, Boat Slips, Tackle, we pay plenty of taxes to make up the costs..

I have enough to pay for in permits the yeah.. After all in said and done.. i'm broke!!. and the great stimilus plan the big O came up with is a joke..

Small business owners are still being turn away at banks....

It wil be hard this year to keep my rates competitive if fuel goes thru the roof..So who gets screwed on these excessive permits for this and permit for that.. We all DO...
