Verus, Chicken & Rice, expensive, but awesome results with the pup. Great for active dogs. Same formula for puppies and adults.
X2, I save the upc codes, 1 free bag for every 10. This brings the cost down to under $36 for a 40 lb. bag.

I have a 1 1/2 yr old GSP and did quite a bit of research trying to find him the right food that was not only good for his physical development but would also be kind to our noses. I went through all of your top brands of grain free Orijen and Instinct top of the line food at like $65 a bag plus depending on variety only to find out I was doing more harm than good. These foods have 30-40% protein which was way too much even for an active dog all he did was Poop it all out constantly. Long story short I settled on Merrick which is an outstanding food. No fillers or bi products only made from quality ingredients. All of th dry flavors are meant to be used interchangeably because the core base of th food is the same which means you can switch flavors without weaning and your dog getting the shits. The can food is also top if the line fit for human consumption. Do some homework and check it out you wont be dissappointed.

This discussion came up a couple of months ago. Ever since then I have been doing some research.

I started my Wiem on Eukanuba Performance, but I didn't like the results. Then I feed him Purina Pro Plan Large Breed, and his energy, looks, teeth, and stool looked great and I was happy. The only bad thing with Purina Pro Plan, is that he gets chubby really fast if I don't run for a week. I heard the same from other people who use Pro Plan as well.

He kept on getting ear infections, I thought it was just due to swimming and floppy ears. But after doing some research that started from the other tread, I began to think he was having a reaction to the grains in his food.

After 5 weeks of research I started to switch him 2 weeks ago to Taste of the Wild - High Prairie. So far, I think its working. His ear smell MUCH better, his fur is softer, even his 'chubbyness' has seem to calm down.

Gonna be swithcing him over fully next week. I'll let you all know how it goes.

Rogers in Brick is great!
Highly recommend!

With several dogs and different working seasons I have to feed a couple of brands.
Most important requirement: No grains, No corn!!

I use to feed him Pro plan and for hunting season pro plan performance (high protein), but when they changed to the shredded blend if messed him up. He had diarrhea for weeks; 550.00 dollars in vet bills to find out his stomach doesnt agree with the new formula sucks. Switched to eukanuba and his stomach had been good, and with good performance in the field. Eukanuba is expensive itself, I cant see paying more for other dog food. For price of some of the high end dog food can buy him straight chicken breasts and steak; dont see it being worth almost 2.00 dollar a pound.

Not too bad, 40 bucks for 40 lbs, that's what I fed my last pup...

I cant see paying more for other dog food.
I feel the same way... [up]

Too much work, I don't feel like cooking for us sometimes...[hihi]
