it's simple. many of the guys on this site seldom have anything nice to say about anything.
thats all this site has become lately, a place for people to bash things or others or to make sexual and gay comments,,,

as for the show its gotten better, i go every year actualy look forwards to it,

they should lower the booth prices, 1000 is ruff in this econ

Was working the UBNJ booth on Friday.I have been doing Friday every year since We have been in this show. This year was the slowest!!I like the new setup and look of the show. The new promoters got that right but until they spend some money getting a celebrity to draw a crowd it will b the same show!At 12 a head they can easily make alot of money if they wanted.Spend the money and the vendors will come along with the people!!

I went with my wife, son and mother-outlaw. I thought the show was better and will return next year. I gave my guide TVO more money for my Iowa hunt, bought a howler call and rabbit call, my wife and I signed up for three years in the NRA, bought some pickles and nuts and picked up some brochures on a future Halibut fishing trip. I hope they keep it going and make it even better.[up]
I would have liked to have seen some atv and utv dealers rather than lawn mowers.[down]

I thought there were some really good deals there:

>ScentLock boots for $69 that are over $120 at Cabelas. I would have bought a pair. I tried them on, but could not get my foot in over my high insteps. A problem I have with many slip on boots.

> There was an inexpensive hunters ear amplifier for $17. Two of my friends bought them. I would have also, but do to my job I will be out of state most of the time this spring so I will not do any turkey hunting.

> There was also the snow camo that HughGuy mentioned the other day.

Most of the floor was carpeted making walking around for us geezers eaiser.

I liked the Deer Classic better when it was in a seperate room, but that is just me.

The Deer Classic makes me feel like I am wasting my time hunting in North Jersey (Z4'5,6 and sometimes 9). The overwelming majority of the bucks there are taken south of RT78.I didn't see any bucks from Z1,2,3,4,5 or 6 although there were 1 or 2 from Sussex county perhaps I didn't notice what zone. Not even any for Z9 (Mendham). There were three from Morris county Z36 which is the eastern half of MC. Z36 has no public land and many towns in Z36 have no discharge laws. A couple of years ago they redrew the zones chopping off part of Z6 and putting it in 36. That is Montville, Boonton Kinnilon etc....I assume that is where those bucks came from.

Not only is SJ a long drive for me, I am not familiar with any place to hunt down there. So the option of going to SJ to hunt is out of the question.

Getting back to the show in general while I think it has improved they need to eliminate more of the non-hunting/fishing vendors. And what was up with that stupid parrot display, polly want a cracker, Bring back the raptors.

Took my boys yesterday (4 n 7 year olds). We hada blast! We go jus about every year. Mainly look at the Deer Classic mounts. They tried the trout pond n had a few bites-caught one a few yrs ago. The kid nex to me n my younger one was an up n coming notorious spinner fisherman who snags everyones line on opening day! His dad wud watch him as he wud drag the bait across our line repeatedly (def was a good technique for the finicky trout but I laughed cuz he wil b on the streams doing the same). One 2 year old was hysterical crying cuz he didn't catch any-his mom said he sounded like her husband after a fishin trip! We had fun tho n its def worth it. Its nice to c that many people supporting the hunting n fishin sports in nj. Some nice does in camo shirts walkin round too!

Much better than the past years. Still not great, but worth my 9 bucks for a couple hours out with my kid. I didnt see the balaclava seller though. Thats a great product. Vendors take note!! This show now has potential to make a name for itself again. If I had the scratch, I would have bought a bow today without a doubt. Still, I took a card and have full intentions of buying a new longbow from him when I can.

After spending 5 days at the show I'm pretty much wiped out. These old legs of mine had a good workout.
For the NJOA this show was our best ever. We are now being recognized buy our peers and it's a great feeling. There is still alot of sportsmen & women who have no clue as to who we are and what we do. Their biggest surprize is that they think we are a business and then find out that we are 100% volunteer organization.
We give away a lot of Sporting Store $10.00 Gift Certificates with each membership and hundreds of Yellow "T" shirts.
Thanks to all the NJH members who stopped by and either joined or made a donation.[up]
Thanks to Jersey Jay's Taxidermy for signing up as a NJOA discounting retailer[up]
We're still waiting for Targeteers & the Sportsmens Center to sign up.

I was in the market for a new bow, so I stopped by The Sportmans Center booth and got a coupon for $75 off on any new bow. I took the coupon went down to their shop and ordered the Hoyt CRX. 32 The show was good to me.

it didnt seem as jammed packed for some reason
It all had to do with the new Producers layout.
Most booths were in groups of four that gave the exhibitors a corner booth. The aisles were wider and the carpet deadened the noise. The show was spread out more because the log cabin was outside and there were no house trailers set up and the Shamm Wow guy didn't have a booth so he snuck in with the knife guy[wallmad]

I would have given you $10.00 gift certificate for the Sportmen's center had you signed up for a NJOA membership.

if they got some of the stupid vendors that had absolutely nothing to do with the outdoors
Besides the wine guy and maybe the Crab cakes & pickles which ones would you not allow at this show if you were the producer?

I dont think people are being negative. They are just stateing their opinions on the show and the reasons they are going or not. That's why they make chocolate and vanilla. To criticize someone as a hater or negative person because they dont "support" this show is wrong.

I agree[up]
and to criticize someone because they do "support" this show is also wrong.

Just looking back at some of my posts on the GSOSS some of you maybe thinking that I am on the shows payroll. I am not. The only payroll I am on is my SS & pension.
Why am I supporter of the show?
My titles below should give you all an indication of my ambitions. I'm all for the sportspeople of NJ. Both the Federation & the 3 NJOA Orgs allows me to do just that. One of the goals of the NJOA is to unite all 800,000 of us together as a union of unity much like the NRA does with gun owners.
The GSOSS success and every other show, flea market, or what ever event I have to attend that achieves that goal I'll support.
