I love my PPK/S. Although I carry a Glock 27 most of the time off-duty, I like the PPK for those times I'm in a suit. Perfect little ankle gun.

I have two PPKs which give me decent groups at 15 yds. They're made in Maine now by Smith & Wesson, same place they manufacture the Model 41 .22 target pistols....got two of those too.[hihi] BTW, S&W did have a safety recall on PPKs manufactured during a certain time period, so if you buy used, check their website for the serial number range effected by the recall.

I went with dad to pick up his ppk/s (stainless) last year and was less than impressed when we brought it back and shot it in my indoor range.

The gun is a good looking piece but has so many sharp edges that it feels like you're holding an ice skate blade at times. We used some 1000 grit wet/dry paper to take off some of the sharp edges and it felt a lot better, especially when drawing the gun from a holster. The serrations on the slide can be rough and can be even worse when you're practicing clearing jams. We used some 1000 grit wet/dry paper to take off some of the sharp edges and it felt a lot better.

The other thing I didn't like was the decocker. The decocker on my sigs actually capture the hammer and allow you to drop it slowly, but the walther safety/decocker drops the hammer hard as if the trigger had been pulled. Doesn't give you a comfortable feeling, especially when you find out that there is a recall due to the guns firing when the safety/decocker is engaged. My WWII p38 operates the same way and it bothers me too.

We went through about 400 rounds and we had no ftf, but had about 1 fte every other magazine. When we received the gun back after the recall, it was better, but we still had a few fte. Still can't get comfortable applying the safety and I tend to use my thumb to allow the hammer to drop slowly.

They are all made by Walther. Walther has been around for years and puts out quality products, and always has
Umm, no...the ppk is made by S&W and before that they were made by Ranger arms(distributed by Interarms).

In the euro zone they were made by a French company, Mahurin, up until 1985 or so due to Walther not being allowed to manufacture arms after WW2.

Now they are sinced they merged and became Walther USA. Thats why the Walther P99 & S&W 99 are so similar

In 1978, Ranger Manufacturing of Gadsden, Alabama was licensed to manufacture the PPK and PPK/S; this version was distributed by Interarms of Alexandria, Virginia. This license was eventually canceled. Starting in 2002, Smith & Wesson (S&W) began manufacturing the PPK and PPK/S under license.

You still can't complain about the gun
