Why in God's name would you want to introduce wolves into NJ?!?!?!?

Just look at the problems generated by the wolf reintroduction that began in Montana, Wyoming & Idaho in the mid 1990's...

Just what NJ needs...an apex predator that hunts in packs... [eyeroll]

say goodbye to your deer herd in wolf country...

and if it's a human fatality you want, the wolves can oblige you there too...

then, when we have a crisis on our hands, a wolf advocacy group will pop up from suburbia and demand protection for the wolves.

(Think back to the BEAR Group's efforts to thwart any kind of meaningful population control of the State's burgeoning black bear population - Do we really want to go down that road again?!?!?)

Wolves are no doubt fascinating creatures, but then again so was Tyrannosaurus rex. But I don't think it would be a good idea to unleash a 40 ft. long carnivorous reptile in the Pine Barrens either - just because it's "fascinating".

Think about it. Wolves will never come to NJ it is too populated. On top of the fact that people would not allow it. Think about it if people are scared of bears and such then what do you think there reaction to a wolf would be. On top of that if they ever did bring wolves to NJ the deer population will drop, a lot. And we will not be able to hunt them for many years because of one anti's and two because the state had to pay money to bring them in. Wolves would just not be compatible in NJ its too urban, and not enough space.

Wolves in NJ its all a bunch of bullshit but we seem to have certain individuals on this site that want to believe this nonsense
Nonsense?[confused] I have it from a reliable source this will indeed happen in NJ. My wife's brother's friend has a sister-in-law whose daughter has a friend who over-heard 2 NJ biologists talking about it.[rofl]

I say we give the land back to its rightful owners the Native Americans, they were here first!
So true but all the ones that lived in this area from what I understand where all killed.

thats rediculous, i do not think there should be wolves in NJ but it would not hurt the deer population, if there were a few hundred wolves, if that, they would take down a minimal amount of deer, idk if you open a hunters digest but hunters kill over 50000 deer a year and cars kill near 10,000 a year just in jersey and yet the population is still huge and growing..therefore the population would not be hurt, it would probably just be QDM...again i do not think there should be wolves but the deer herd would not be hurt, i doubt many dogs get killed and come on, i cant really imagine packs of wolves chasing after hunters

A wolf has to eat 9+ pounds of food per day over the winter. So lest say there is 300 wolves in NJ. thats 2700 pounds of meat consumption per day. now lets say a deer weighs 130lb. That would be 21 deer per day, now lest say they do this all year. That would be 7686 deer per year.

Hunters on here are already complaining about to few deer.

If the state wants to really control deer wolves are the way to go but this will never happen

You're clueless Every area with wolves has seen a dramatic drop in game. Elk and moose population go down with the amount of tags given out. They are thrill killing land sharks that don't eat the entire animal but move on to another for sport. Ask the cat hunters who's dogs have been surrounded and killed or gutted about them or try taking your Lab for a walk and see how far you go before a pack comes in. I've been to ground zero of Wolf country and when they reduce cow tags from 100 to none there's a problem. If you want wolves you need to have huge areas where they can kill off every thing in 1 spot while other areas recover for years.

I completely agree with you boomer. Wolves would destroy everything in NJ. the only way they could do it is if they kept the population to no more then 100 and even that is a little high.
Irs just not possible.
NY or PA could get away with it but not NJ
