The geese have been dumping into the school field everyday when the kids get out, but rarely cross over into the hunting grounds. So I took my rotweiler over to the school field and chained him up to the goal post. I left him water and food and a note that said, "gone for lunch, be back soon". The idea was that the dog would get the geese up and they would fly over to where we were set up. It seemed to work for a bit. After about an hour I heard the dog barking and kids screaming, and all of a sudden 40 or 50 geese were circling the decoys, I could beleive it worked. Then as the birds got real close to the decoys my gun jammed, and they all landed in the decoys. I reloaded and tried to line up 3 as they walked around the decoys, just as they came together my fricken dog comes running across the field dragging the goal post and 5 kids chasing him. The damm geese went back to the school field, I was so pissed. I told one of the kids I would give him the rest of my 6 pack if he took the dog back to the school field, and they did. Heres where the story gets interesting. The chain broke and the goal post was left behind in the docoys, so i got nervous and picked up my decoys. While I was casing the gun 9 geese landed right next to the goal post, then 6 more. We sat there and shot 3 limits, with just a goal post as a decoy. It was real fun.
