Well after a couple days of some hard hunting to fill my black bear tag, we finally had it all come together tonight!! My good buddy Nick was my guide/cameraman and we were having a hard time getting a bruin in front of us. We set up on a ridge were the MRI told us there was some good bears hanging out.
Well, about 3:45pm we had a couple young bears come out and mill around. Being that today was my last day to hunt, since I have family obligations. I could have taken one of the two but opted to hold off and risk going home empty handed. But knowing there was a large sow and a large boar in the area that was a risk I was willing to take. It also helped having my buddy telling don't shoot[hihi][hihi][hihi]
Half and hour later a large body bear made it's way in front of our set up but was going to keep on going. Too bad for this bear it was at 50 yards and I had a clear shooting lane. I placed the crosshairs on it's vitals and and when the bear stopped and looked our way, I let the TC Encore bark with a Hornady 240grain SST sabot, which hit it's mark. The bear ran 40 yards it it was over.
Now the work started but thanks to some great friends we were able to get this large sow out and into the pick-up. Checked her in and found the people from the NJ Div of F&G to be some of the best people to deal with. My sow came in at 270 pounds and is a bear that has been as they call it, handled, since it had a silver tag in it's ear. So a great week of hunting with a great pal and we did our part for wildlife management[up][up][up]
By the way there were no anti's at the check in station. I guess protesting is only good when they can have a camera around and it is only ten of them
. While us hunters actually do something positive for the wildlife and are out there everyday. Humm, it might be becuase the anti's are a small group of misguided individuals[confused][confused] I wish everyone who is still hunting the best and keep up the good work and be safe.[up][up][up]
