Did anyone pick up the new Field and Stream Magazine that has an article about NJ Deer Hunting? I thought it kind of painted us in a bad picture and made NJ hunting look like a joke...anyone else see this?

Well...lets think about this.

I never hear anyone coming to or wanting to come to New Jersey to do a 'hunt of a lifetime'.

Or the best hunting I ever had was a day in New Jersey.

But this is our state, and this is state I will continue to hunt as long as I'm a resident.

It really wasn't about the quality of deer. It was more about the hunting styles that I disliked and the picture they show is two hunters under an overpass on 287. Why didn't they show pics of the water gap? It looks they had an intended message set in their head and weote their story around that instead of truly researching deer hunting here.

I agree with Withmygunnar this state is a joke and we as hunters need to stop shooting the little bucks and button bucks. the state state needs to make a larger limit on rack size. But that will never happen from either side it makes me so mad when i see little bucks killed and buuton bucks. state would be alot better and all the gunn clubs need to stop the attuide if its brown it goes down that is the dumbs thing i have ever heard.

I got to read that article. I will pick up the mag tomorrow. Should write to editor about it if you feel that it is not accurate. F&S has a tendency to tweek things a bit. They also favor gear companies and such. Drives me crazy.

Their lead-in picture for the article isn't the most complimentary either:

Exactly! It seems that the author had his opinion formed before he wrote the article and took pictures and wrote to try and portray a certain image about NJ hunting. I wish he would have actually traveled around the state and learned.

It just seems they did not accurately portray NJ deer hunting....I mean on the cover of the magazine it says "Mob Wars: Deer hunting NJ Style".
Wait 'til they run Part II in next month's edition ... Deer Hunting "Pine Barrens" Style [hihi]

The author Joe Cermele managed to find the uglier images he was looking for and write about them. He would know because he is a resident of New Jersey. If his story was meant to be a tongue-in-cheek poke at New Jersey, it still showed some of the uglier sides which will negatively resonate with readers across the nation.

They didnt write about the hit that tony Soprano put on a 10 pointer.going out to get some bucks with Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino & pauly D.
Face it guys every other state thinks this state is a joke. They should have took the opening photo two guys in tree stands on telephone polls in newark.
F&s is a joke every test they do is just fancy ad.
Its not the best state around but still has some great spots to hunt. They need to get up into the delaware you forget your in jersey.

I find it somewhat accurate. I hunt property with abondoned cars and junk piles. Planes flying over so loud they sound like they are landing on top of you. Dogs barking and sirens blarring.Harleys cracking the throttle as they accelerater down the highway.
I also hunt just the opposite in NJ. Deep woods where all you can here are birds and other creatures. This is NJ. We are very diversified.
NJ has always been the brunt of jokes. Its just getting worse with all these new quality TV shows making us Stars. Lol

I have three freinds that are bear guides in Maine on the Canadian border that come here every year to hunt deer. We have some of the best deer hunting in the country believe it or not.
