I have to say with all the technology available to hunters today be it GPS's, mapping programs, satellite photography or a good old fashion map and compass. Their are still people who find it necessary to litter the woods with survey ribbon.

[down] I had a nice buck coming into the rattling horns. He was about 35 yards coming in on a string when he stopped at a survey ribbon marking another hunters trail. He took a big sniff of that tape did a 180* and split. [down]

not everyone has the luxury that some do[ninja], ribbon suits a lot of people well. whereas gps can be off 20 feet or so, you know where to go with ribbon and cant get lost, best part is they dont have batteries [hihi]

I guess whats really bothering me is have been scouting an area in the pines for over a month for Saturdays opener and I take great pains not to disturb the deer while scouting and when I was in the woods Saturday there was ribbon all over and on't even get me started about the shooting lanes this guy cut. These are the people who can't understand why they don't see deer.

Just change the route for the guy. Take them and randomly place them through out the woods...He'll get the message. Ribbon is from the distant past. Glow tacks are a better option for those who can't afford a GPS(and many can't). A better option is to get to know your hunting ground intimately and use what is there for road signs.

Why not just slash his tires and steal his stand while your at it?

Nothing wrong with what he did...if you want private land buy it...until then learn how to share.

I love how you guys come on here and say lets start a brotherhood and watch everyones stands and be curtious and bitch about when people steal your stuff and what not but are willing to INTENTIONALLY change someones course and possibly endanger them and whomever they are hunting with which may include a youth.

How would you feel if a poor kid broke his leg because dad got lost in the dark because some shit head moved his ribbons? Pretty dickhead move if you ask me!

Heres a better option if you guys have scouted so damn much you should know where the deer move so cut them off before they get to him. Problem solved and you didnt have to do anything but use your brain.

Just to be clear. I would never mess with anyones equipment in the field no matter what happens I would just move instead witch is what I did. I just hate to see ribbon litter the woods just my pet peeve.[wallmad] I guess its better than paint.

Relax, there, Mr Righteous! The post was in sarcasm. Sorry, if I forgot the emoticon. Of course I'd feel bad, but I'd never do that. Some of you guys read way too deep into this stuff.

Take note of the other options I have mentioned. That was the intent of the post.
